We had the good fortune of connecting with Carsen Ramsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carsen, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I always knew I had more to bring to the table than just your usual 9-5 job. My brain is constantly on the move and thinking of creative ways to express myself. I had the pleasure of being able to see my mom as a hairstylist growing up and I was able to see what exactly I could fulfill if I followed in her footsteps. I immediately knew from a young age that I* wanted to follow in those footsteps. I love being able to come to work everyday knowing that I could be changing a persons day for the better. Its never the same thing everyday and the way i”m able to express my creativity and also make the clients wants come true has always brought joy to me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a hairstylist, the possibilities are endless. I come into work everyday excited to build a relationship with my clients and help their wants become reality. Its more than just a job to me, I feel like its one big party with the friendships I have built with my clientele. It hasn’t always come easy to me though, I have gone through periods where I felt like maybe this wasn’t the profession for me. Fortunately, I changed my surroundings and surrounded myself with a group that comes in wanting to not only help themselves but also you. Along my journey so far, I feel one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that it truly matters who you decide to surround yourself with. The more negativity you bring around yourself, the more it affects every aspect of your life. I genuinely care about the person that sits in my chair and I look forward to continue to build those friendships with my clients.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is surrounded with so many beautiful places to hang out. I would have to start off the weekend with a hike along the Chattahoochee river, and then grab coffee at Cafe Comma in Vinings. I am a big Braves baseball fan so I would have to take them to the battery, for some drinks and fun at Superica or El Super Pan before heading into the stadium to watch a game.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to recognize Taylor Logan and Lindsey Wheeler, from L&CO salon, for playing such a big role in my success and where I am today, From the beginning, they invested a big part of their time in making sure I had all the tools needed to become successful. They have been by my side since the start and I am very thankful for that.
