We had the good fortune of connecting with Carolyn Glover-Erves and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carolyn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was what can I do to help other obtain their health and body goals. My mother had a stroke on Mother’s Day and could no longer walk or talk. My mother had to be turned every 2 hours and her legs and arms had to be massaged at least twice a day. Physical therapy only came once a week, so I had the therapist to train me how to do the massages to give my mother the relief she needed. Fluid was building up on her limbs and that hurt. So, I learned how to move the fluid. I took classes and got certified. I worked with doctors to get the knowledge and to learn my craft. After my mother passed, I loved what I did for her and wanted to do it for others. I had to figure out what gave me a since of pleasure and thus Body Secrets By Erves was born.

What should our readers know about your business?
Body secrets by Erves is a local business that pride themselves on helping others regain their confidence. Many women and men come to me to help them loose inches and to get their lymphatic system back on track. I am most proud of myself when I can transform a person with lymphedema and it hurt for them to walk, stand, or sit. I am most proud when I can move that water out of their body into their lymphatic system and they can walk again and not feeling the heavy limbs. Also, the inflammation goes down and now they are mobile again.

I want the world to know that body contouring or lymphatic massages are not just for people with surgery. Everyone has a lymphatic system and when it is not functioning properly a simple touch can change their life. Come in and try it before you decide it’s not for you. You won’t know until you try it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First, I would take them to body secrets for a facial and massage. Then I woud take them to Lenox for some shopping therapy. Later we would go out to try some restaurants none in particular just wing it. In the morning we would wake up and go to Stone Mountain to get some exercise in, come back home chill by the pool and catch some comedy at the local comedy clubs.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I like to recognize my family and friends. My husband Thomas Erves especially for always having my back. He helps me in every way possible. When I am discouraged, he gives me that encouragement I need to turn my negatives into positives. Also, My daughter Tiara Erves she is the first person to say you can do it mom you can do anything you put your mind to it.

My Son Terron, Teon and daughter Braelyn says mom invest in you. I feel this is the best family the Lord could have ever blessed me with.

I also would like to recognize my mentors Dr. Rizzo and Dr. Phillip Hadley. There are other groups such as Coach Stormy, DeBlair Tate author of Resilient as F*ck these two people I listen to for positive affirmations and to keep myself going and not giving up as well as my cousin Charmaine Hodges.

I always say to myself even though I may not say anything I still watch how I carry myself and how I love others to shine.
