We had the good fortune of connecting with Caroline Lobo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caroline, where are you from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m one of six kids, born in New Hampshire and raised in the sunny warmth of Florida. My early years were spent in homeschooling, an experience I cherish for its ability to let me focus on self-discovery and explore my interests without the distractions of a traditional classroom. My mom was a natural teacher and my dad’s penchant for introducing us to technology made our home a hotbed of creativity. This upbringing nurtured close bonds within our family and made me well-rounded. I found it easy for me to adapt to situations with people in lots of different circles of life.

In those formative years, I developed a strong sense of self that was instrumental in driving my career. My parents also instilled in me the significance of travel, opening my eyes to the world’s wonders and enriching my perspective. While I dabbled in sports, I never was particularly competitive; instead, I’ve always preferred engaging in hands-on creative activities, from working in the yard and experimenting in the kitchen to honing my poetry skills (I still have tons of books in boxes filled with thoughts about life).

All of these things planted seeds for my resourcefulness, sense of humor, and knack for connecting with people today. Many of my personal qualities stem from opportunities I was given while growing up and the understanding that hard work yields rewards. I started working from a young age, taking on roles such as cleaning, babysitting, and restaurant work, then gradually advancing to more complex challenges like project management and helping clients strategize and succeed. Today, as a producer, I find immense satisfaction in lending a helping hand and seeing the tangible results of my efforts. It’s a testament to the values instilled in me during my upbringing – that hard work, creativity, and a strong sense of self can lead to meaningful success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my career in Advertising – I wanted the fun, sparkly, agency life. But going back to my “well-rounded” childhood, I also wanted to know the other side and what brands were thinking and why. So I also worked as “the Client” at AT&T for years. I loved creative production and project management from the start and have been lucky to find amazing opportunities in Atlanta to fuel that energy into my career as an Executive Producer in animation today.

There are two stories that really sum up my career – and me – in a nutshell:

1. I was hired twice for my first ad agency job: first for the job I applied for, then minutes later for a different position. There was an internal mix-up, so I had to choose if I wanted to temporarily be in a different role than expected. I took a chance, accepted, and launched my career in Atlanta. It’s never really been about finding a perfect fit. It’s about finding a creative solution.

2. I once brought a TV remote to an interview instead of my wallet. I had to borrow money from the receptionist to pay for the parking deck fee. While this could have been humiliating, it was hysterical. Life is too short to take yourself too seriously. There have been plenty of parts of my career that have been difficult but if I’m not having a little fun along the way, I won’t be truly fulfilled. And, yes, I got the job. Yes, I paid her back.
