We had the good fortune of connecting with Carol Crawford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carol, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I began in the Gospel Music Industry, my goal was to provide a platform for new and upcoming Gospel Artists to share their music, educate them in the business of Gospel music and to make connections internationally.

When I started my business, I felt it important to formalize my efforts and begin to establish Back2BackPR International as a unique international organization.

A business is the difference between a hobby and a career.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have three decades of experience in the Gospel music industry, in the UK and also in the USA, In 1989, I had a Gospel club in London where many new and established artists were able to showcase their gifts and talents.

I then began organizing other events and booking artists as well as supporting them with all aspects of development and publicity, included drafting press releases, compiling media packs, arrange print, Radio, TV interviews and coordinating CD release events amongst other things.

Many years later, I was engaged by a Seattle based record label to assist in the career development of gospel artists signed to the label, marketing their music projects, scheduling interviews, arranging appearances at conferences and events. Assisting in planning the release of albums which included compiling a timeline for advertising, promotion, marketing, merchandising, radio interviews and recording radio drops.

My accomplishments include running a Plus Size Modeling Agency in London in the early 1980s, producing fashion shows, assisting in the production of a Plus Size Beauty Pageant “Miss Big & Beautiful”, running a Gospel Venue in London (providing a platform for new and emerging Artists), co-hosting a daily Talk Show on BBC Radio Oxford.

Currently I produce an international event that provides a platform for Independent Gospel artists to connect with industry personnel, participate in music industry educational sessions and network with people that are on the same journey musically. The International Gospel Music Summit is an annual event that alternates between the USA and the UK.

During this new season, I have been conducting interviews called “Across the Pond” with Back2BackPR, with Christians in Arts, Entertainment and Music. My interviews are currently airing on ROKU TV, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV (on the Gospel International and SVP TV Channels).

My most recent role is as a Grammy U Mentor for the Recording Academy for their Spring 2022 Semester.

Over the years I’ve learnt that if I make a plan, create a timeline, do my research and build a team, these are a few of the components for success. It is important to believe in yourself and what you know. Be persistent, consistent and determined.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start each day with coffee and a light breakfast, then maximize the day by heading out early to some of my favorite spots in Seattle, the Space Needle, Museum of Pop Culture, Lake Washington waterfront and Pike Place Market area a few. Lunch would be at one of the quaint cafes in Seattle.

I would have a couple of events to attend while my best friend was in town, so we would eat early and head to the venue like the Paramount, the Showare or Climate Pledge Arena,

We would go on the Seattle Great Wheel to get some great selfies of Seattle and end the week with a drive along the Oregon coast and back.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents were such a great example for me, they were committed to family, persistent in their endeavors and had a faith that kept me encouraged and motivated towards my goals. They taught me that education was important and that having goals in life along with a plan of action were essential to success.

There have been others who have encouraged me over the years, but the one thing that has kept me moving forward in my business is knowing that I can take all my cares, concerns, needs and wants to the Lord in prayer. He is faithful and always inspires me with ideas. and direction.
