We had the good fortune of connecting with Carmen Denise and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carmen, how do you think about risk?
Risks are EVERYWHERE! In every relationship. Business or personal. I was taught “the bigger the risk, the higher the benefit” however; this can be a hit or miss. Once I learned to study my market & fully pay attention to what these risks can mean, my strategy towards my business became beneficial. Same in my personal life, you have to take risks in order to see results.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m so hard on myself lol I am my worst critic so I always feel like I’m not doing enough. I’m most proud of my growth in the way I approach things in my career. It was always a “by this time” method, not realizing that I am not on anyone else’s timeline. I am a method actress so I pull from life experiences which can sometimes create a blur between acting and reality. I started off as a background actor and ultimately worked my way to other speaking roles. In todays generation it seems that the recipe to be booked is to be “popular”. This is a common issue in acting and creates a lot of adversity, so much you sometimes stop believing in your own talent. For every “yes”, I received 20 “no’s” before that. I learned that my journey is far from over and how to keep navigating with tunnel vision to stay focused. Trusting my God in everything I do. I want to inspire the next generation.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in ATLANTA! Enough said! Lol There is so much to do and collect here in the city. A few of my fav places are..
-The Ponce City Market
-Atlantic Station at Christmas time
-Botanical gardens at Christmas time
-Roc South southern cuisine
-Belt line ( food markets/walking the trails)
-The nightlife of course 😉 (hookah bars, dance clubs, lounges etc)
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I always want to dedicate and acknowledge my higher power for all my accomplishments and lessons. I would also like to s/o my sister for her support and unconditional love throughout my inspiring journey.
