We had the good fortune of connecting with Carla Hudson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carla, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea of Commitment to You merely from seeing a lack staying committed to my own goals and letting life habits keep me in a state of depression. I looked around and found it was so many women that look just like me that lacked discipline and had issues with committing time to themselves. We all had one thing in common. We lacked Self-Love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Registered Nurse by trade. Getting here was a rocky road and alot of denial letters before I actually was able to get into the program. I wanted to throw in the towel and Intried by changing my major, but Nursing kept tugging at my heart strings. I was stubborn and due to being in not so great marriage, I wanted to only go to school no more than 30 minutes from my home. I prayed hard and listened to the voice of discernment. God led me to the right school, at the right time and in the right place. I drove 2 hrs to school and 2 hours back for two year. Later I would learn it was necessary because with out those two hours to clear my mind of the chaos from home I would have never became a nurse. This leads me to Commitment to You, with out the trials and tribulations I wouldn’t be able to stand strong in front of anyone and say ” Hello my name is Carla and I’m a Self-Love Empowerment Coach who survived a mental and physically abusive marriage” without breaking down. This is my silent strength that keeps me going.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to highlight my girl Kay. She saw something in me I didn’t see in myself. She gave me an opportunity to try out my platform as a trip host and it allowed me to flourish with trail and error. Without her pulling me out of my shell I would have played small and felt what I had to offer wasn’t worth listening to.
