Meet Candice Escalea | Podiatrist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Candice Escalea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Candice, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Before opening my own podiatry practice, I worked in both private and corporate medical settings where I often felt limited in how deeply I could educate and advocate for my patients. I wanted to create a space where people felt heard, supported, and empowered to take control of their health. I realized that in order to make the kind of impact I envisioned for my community, I would need to step out on my own. Prestige Ankle & Foot Care was born from that desire to provide patient-centered care without limitations.

What should our readers know about your business?
Prestige Ankle & Foot Care is a podiatric medical practice located in Marietta, Georgia. Founded in May 2023, the business began as a mobile podiatry service to increase access to care and expanded into a brick-and-mortar location in May 2024. We are committed to serving the community by restoring mobility, independence, and quality of life to patients who are often overlooked. I have treated individuals who could no longer work, attend family gatherings, or even leave their homes due to pain or instability. Foot and ankle conditions frequently lead to financial strain, social isolation, and a loss of independence. In many cases, these symptoms are also early warning signs of serious underlying health conditions such as diabetes and heart disease. Unfortunately, these issues disproportionately affect minority and underserved populations. By identifying and treating foot and ankle problems early, we are able to intervene before conditions worsen-an approach that can be truly limb-saving, and in some cases, life-saving.
Starting my own medical practice was one of the most challenging and rewarding decisions I’ve made. The financial risk and personal investment were overwhelming at times, especially while navigating the administrative demands and regulatory complexities of healthcare. What carried me through was my willingness to seek guidance from podiatrists who had already walked that path and to surround myself with people whose expertise complemented my own. Learning to lean on others not only eased the burden, but also taught me the value of collaboration and humility in leadership.
What sets my practice apart from others is how my patients feel when they walk through our doors. Many people come to us after feeling dismissed or unheard in other medical settings. At Prestige Ankle & Foot Care, we treat every patient with respect and make it a priority to truly listen. I believe knowledge is empowering, so I am intentional about educating my patients and actively involving them in decisions about their care. When patients feel valued, informed, and respected, trust is built-and that trust is the foundation of our success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Places I would take an out of town friend to visit include Ponce City Market, the Atlanta University Center, Roswell Mill Waterfall, and the Fernbank Museum. To eat we would go to Local Three Kitchen & Bar, Cherokee Chophouse, C&S Seafood & Oyster Bar, and South City Kitchen.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this to my parents, Dr. Charles & Audrey Magee, who encouraged me to dream without limits.
