We had the good fortune of connecting with Candi Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candi, where are you from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?

I was born in Savannah, Georgia in March of 1967. Savannah is a beautiful city overflowing with rich architecture and history. Savannah is known for its many different architectural styles of homes, from Georgian to Gothic Revival. It’s hard not to be inspired and have a passion for design.

I grew up on the Vernon River in an 1800’s Victorian home used during the Civil War. The house had two stories with three large porches, two facing the front of the house and the river, and one on the back. There were fireplaces in most rooms and long halls separating the symmetrical sides of the house, just like you see in the movies.

I was surrounded by very creative and design forward women. I did not realize until my adult life just how stylish my Mom and Paternal Grandmother were. My mother’s home was filled with beautiful antiques from all over the world and amazing American and European art. My Grandmother was all about Mid-Century Modern, she was so chic and cool. I feel both of them in my work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What excites me the most is “Redesign”. That term encompasses many meanings for me. Redesign is a “using what you have” approach to decorating. I specialize in Occupied Home Staging, Interior Redesign, and Interior + Exterior Color Consultations. In some ways they are all Redesign. Whether you are taking a space and giving it a fresh, new look ,  getting ready to sell your home, or updating your living space with bringing in new color for your walls. I enjoy taking items that are important to my client and showcasing them in a brand new way. It’s important to listen to my clients and help take their stories and ideas and bring them to life. We all have a story to tell and I love helping them find it!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is an amazing city with so much to offer and so much to see and do. I love to shop, eat great food and spend time in nature. I would take a day for antique shopping and fine dining, a day for hiking and picnicking, a day staying home and catching up with some great take-out and a day for local food and attractions. Some of my favorite spots to shop are 14th Street Antiques, Westside Market, Scott’s Antiques and ADAC. Food is a tough one because there are so many areas, cuisines and wonderful local chefs. Atlanta has several fun food halls now, Ponce City Market, Krog Street Market and The Works on the Westside. Atlanta has some heavy hitters in the restaurant scene so I wouldn’t know where to start. I love the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Atlanta History Museum, and the Beltline has so much to offer as well. After all of that, we will need a quiet day on the couch!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Back in 2013, I was obsessed with HGTV, like so many others. It made me realize that I wanted to participate in the design world. My design story began by reaching out to my good friend, Beth Berss, to see if she would like to join me with a booth in an interiors and design market. We worked together building our booth for two years when we both realized we needed to stretch our wings. Even though we went in different directions, we talk everyday supporting and encouraging each other in our businesses. She has become a well-known local artist in Atlanta. I would not be where I am today without her. Thank you, Beth!
