We had the good fortune of connecting with Candace Barclay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candace, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Not being afraid to see if the grass is on green the other side, and take that leap of faith. While other people would rather stay in the valley, or make a plan of how to climb the mountain, I say “f**k it, let’s just do it. We’ll learn along the way… but the longer we wait, the more likely we could miss a divine moment.”

In moments where most people would cower, my bravery always shows up. I come through and f*ck everything up. I get people going and my confidence in myself is the catalyst for everyone to start believing in themselves too. I was put on this earth to usher in a new era of change and warriors that dare to be different and go against the grain.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m fortunate that my full-time career is my childhood passion(s). Through content creating, I’ve blended my love for cinema, music, and food into 15-60 second videos. It keeps me occupied and pays my bills and feels like everyday I’m working on a new art or science project for the science fair. My platforms are showcasing my childhood dream to the world from my point of view. That’s a blessing.

My content creating is now more than food videos and regurgitating trending recipes; it’s storytelling through visuals, food, and music. My platforms are showcasing my childhood dream to the world from my point of view.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a really dope question. Since moving to Atlanta, I have a few pretty cool excursions. I think taking my bestie to a chic lounge or trendy restaurant would be mandatory (I love Red Phone Booth, Copper Cove, and the aesthetic at Apt 4B), then brunch at Toast on Lenox with Chef Harper since it’s the best. Next I think it’d be dope to venture into nature, like Sweetwater Creek State Park, the Bamboo Trail, coffee on the Chattahoochee River, or Roswell Mills Water Fall. To finish it off, we can shop at Phipps and then turn up at Strokers, Allure, e11even or Platinum.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the people over at Food & Lifestyle. My Twin Chef Major Flava P, Deevo, Jay, Shala, and Chad Law for introducing me to the family. They’ve taken me in and built my confidence as a foodie and content creator, and also as a woman. Food and Lifestyle TV is the true definition of community, genuine love and support, and what it feels like to have people not only believe in you but see your vision.
