We had the good fortune of connecting with Cameryn Alysse and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cameryn, how do you think about risk?
To be completely honest, my entire career is a risk. At any day, things can stop going. My platforms could stop growing, I could lose supporters, I could lose campaigns. Chasing any dream is going to come with its risks but that’s when it comes down to how bad do you want it? Without risk, there is no reward. Had I not taken the risks necessary to get me to where I am today, I would be stuck where I was. And that is not where I want to be. I know exactly where I want to be in life, so I am open to risks. They’ve lead me to a flourishing social media career.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When it comes to content creating and social media influencing, I feel like it is something that is been more normalized over the years and I absolutely love it! And after struggling with self-acceptance for years, I got tired of living within the shadows and my own doubt. I decided I wanted to love my self, every inch, and live intentionally. It took time. But once I started doing the shadow work, my entire life shifted. I found myself creating a community on Instagram of wonderful women who resonated with me and the posts I made. It was surreal. I then found the courage to allow myself to be me, completely, thus tapping into my creativity and true passions; fashion and beauty. I started getting dressed up and taking photos because it made me feel good! The more I did it, the more my accounts grew, and eventually brands started wanting to work with me. It was totally unexpected. But I am forever grateful. I don’t want to bore you with the details, but I come a very rough past. There were so many times where things in life seemed like they were trying to stop me. But at this point, this was a passion of mine, I couldn’t let it go so easily. I lost a lot of sleep, friendships, family, money, and time. But I didn’t let any of it discourage me, that’s important. To see where simply believing in yourself can lead you is unbelievable. I’ve learned to have faith, no matter what life is throwing at you. You have to have faith. You’ve got to push through, give yourself that needed self-care day, then try again tomorrow. You can do it. I want everyone to know that it’s totally normal to feel doubt every now and again, but don’t live in it. Everyday is a new day to try again, the second that you give up is the minute you let your beautiful dream fade.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely have to take my friend to do some karaoke in the city. Followed up with some good food and drinks in an aesthetic setting of course! There’s nothing better than outings that require you to be completely loosened up and comfortable, karaoke is the best! Singing and talking songs from the 90’s or current day, we like to do that anywhere!

Our activities for the week would most likely include with shopping (a few times), because me and all of my friends LOVE to get dressed up! Even if it’s just to take pictures or get content. We always have the most fun doing that, and they’re always so helpful with my content.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give credit to my mother. Rest her soul. She unfortunately passed within a year of me chasing this dream career. I wanted to give up so many times after that. But it is because of her, I’ve continued. The lessons and strength she has instilled in me will live on in me forever, and I’ve been able to apply them to my career and build connections all over the world from it. Her support while she was here is unmatched. I’ll miss her pep talks and her rooting for me. She’s to thank for everything I am. Thank you Susan, my mother!
