We had the good fortune of connecting with Calvin and Whitney Trapp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Calvin and Whitney, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
One day while sitting on the couch together, Calvin said “I would like to start a mobile cigar bar with a trailer.” My response to that was “let’s do it!” Calvin and his friends developed a love for cigars during the pandemic so we thought, why not turn that hobby into a business. I took the lead on the interior design of the trailer, we created a business plan and over a four month span we diy’d our way to creating a mobile cigar bar. Calvin came up with the name as a play on our last name and Trapp’d In Da Smoke was made.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We had only known of a few mobile cigar businesses so we researched and compared business models to see what would work for us. We wanted our business to stand out. With us being a husband and wife team we work the business and spend time together. Easy? No. We are constantly learning the ins an outs of the cigar business and what ideas works to make our business more successful. Lots of cigar research. Lots of re-evaluating what works and doesn’t fit for our business and brand. We want the world to know that when you work with us, we will always bring you the ultimate cigar experience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s funny because whenever we have free time which is sparingly now with the business we make sure we go on dates. So now people come to us for places to eat or visit. We’ve been dubbed “Tour of Columbia” by a close friend. Favorite places to eat/drink :
Hall’s Chophouse – brunch or dinner
Kiki’s Chicken & Waffles
Black Rooster
Railroad BBQ
Soda City- a market of local vendors and food on Main street every Saturday

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to thank our family and friends for their continued support in our journey.
