Meet Caleb Reid | Multidisciplinary Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Caleb Reid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caleb, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The reason why I pursued a creative career is that I love expressing past or current emotions through art. You know I feel that photography is just my main niche, it is so many other parts to me that I haven’t discovered yet! It’s the journey for me!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started out taking pictures in 11th grade. At the time I didn’t have enough money for a digital camera so I picked up a film camera. I was walking around taking pictures of my friend and brother Will Wright at lunch every day and every picture we got back from the film lab we loved. Fast forward I am taking more and more pictures of friends, clients, etc. People within my city (Charleston, South Carolina) started to take note of me, not even because of my age, but, because of the quality of my work. The quality of my work and the emotion of every portrait I take really draws people in. Like having a favorite song you listen to over and over again. So to have people tell me they love the pictures I take or the pictures I took of them means so much to me. How I got to where I am today is by having faith in the hardest times of adversity, A lesson that I have
learned along the way is that All I have is myself. That alone is such a liberating statement because I want only the best for myself and nothing else.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Charleston, South Carolina the first place we have to go is a restaurant to eat. My top 3 restaurants would have to be Nigels Good Food, Paige’s Okra Grill, and last but not least, Fleet Landing. I would highly suggest visiting Downtown Charleston and walking King Street. Downtown Charleston is very beautiful with lots of restaurants and stores to visit.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shoutout to God for guiding me through life when I had no instruction. The nights when it was just me and the thoughts he blessed me with . On the days when I would take walks and not understand where I was going with photography … he made sure I kept going. I started at 13 creating content and now I’m 18 so to be consistent for this long. I have to thank GOD
