We had the good fortune of connecting with Buster Pickett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Buster, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a former teacher, private tutoring was a comfortable step to take within the education world. I have a genuine passion for learning, and I strive for the “Aha!” moments that my students often achieve. However, my instruction quickly became highly sought after, and I decided to take a rather uncomfortable leap into the business world of starting my own business. What made it easy to do was the loving support of my fiancé (now wife) and the drive to provide for us and our future family. We are now excitedly expecting our first child! Even more reasons to stay motivated to succeed.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started Beezor Tutoring LLC in October of 2021 with a dozen consistent clients. There were the skeptical few that thought I was crazy for opening a business during COVID, but those close to me were proud of me and encouraged my accomplishments. By the end of that school year, we had over 30 clients! By the end of the ’22-23 school year, we finished with over 60 clients and 3 busy tutors. The growth that we’ve achieved hasn’t been easy, but I make it as simple and easy as possible on myself, my clients, and my tutors by functioning as the liaison. The most difficult part of my job is managing the logistics of all my clients and coordinating with the tutors. This responsibility has been rather taxing, so I am in the process of streamlining communication through our website to make it as easy as possible for all included.
The main takeaway for the reader is keeping in mind that running your own business is an incredible opportunity to push yourself and see what you’re actually capable of accomplishing in a given amount of time. With positivity, proper goal setting, and a strong support system, anything is within reach! I plan to continue doubling my business each year!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a lifelong Braves fan, you can find me at The Battery! I love the atmosphere before and after games, and there is never a dull moment. There is a vast variety of foods to satisfy any and all, but you can’t go wrong with game day burgers and dogs. For non-game days, it’s important to make your way to the Aquarium and Coca-Cola facilities for a fun day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to send a HUGE shoutout to my loving wife, Mallory! She has motivated me in incredible ways to maintain positivity and motivation. Another appreciation shoutout to my parents, Larry & Sandy, for motivating me and allowing me to become the man I am today. Thank you for pushing me to earn Beezor Better!
