We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryson Manzy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bryson, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing about photography that I believe people that aren’t photographers don’t understand is the amount of time I’ve taken to invest into my craft and the process professional photographers go through to give clients the best photos possible. The investment of thousands of dollars that we spend to be the best at our job, and the countless hours of editing weekly for clients isn’t seen.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My most proudest moment professionally would have to be working with my first professional clothing brand. As a fashion photographer, it can be difficult to be recognized by established clothing markets such as SHEIN and Forever 21. I’m proud to have collaborate with both companies to present new looks for their Spring and Summer collections.

As I stated previously, it is challenging to set yourself apart from so many talented photographers. This profession is fun, but it isn’t easy. Countless hours of practice through capturing the best shot to learning how to edit took years to learn. Being a photographer takes a lot of patience. With each session I do, I’m always learning. You learn to work with what’s in your surroundings. You learn to work in different types of environments.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve only been living in Atlanta for a few weeks now and I enjoy it. If my friends came to visit it wouldn’t be the whole week but just the weekend. The first place we would go would have to be Mary Mac’s Tea Room off Ponce De Leon. Their food has to be the best in the city!

Afterwards, I’d take my friends to my favorite lake and we’d fish for a few hours and catch up.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank all of the people who have invested in me through photography; whether it be assisting me with a photo shoot, modeling, being a subject when I first started taking pictures, and the hundreds of clients that I have worked with! You all are appreciated!
