We had the good fortune of connecting with Brycen Barnes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brycen, what matters most to you?
A principle that means the most to me is to be your authentic self in every room you come across and to always treat people with respect. These mean the most to me because in this day and time respect is a lost art and people are very entitled but they lose the respect of their elders and strangers. They meet them with a negative entitled attitude and don’t open the gates for a positive conversation. In regard to principles, I always present myself authentic self in every room so the people I encounter know and understand my character.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started YouTube back in 2020 doing reaction videos before switching to Vlogs and I started streaming full time in 2023. I’m most proud of what I’ve been accomplishing this year so far. I set a standard for myself this year to go all into everything I decided to do with my life and career. To get to where I am today, I had to hone in on my career and really ask myself “Is this what you want?”, “Am I willing to sacrifice fun times for cold nights?” I chose at the beginning of this year and have made more progress than ever before. It was not easy to change my habits at all. I had to cut out certain things I really enjoyed in order to grow. I overcame these challenges by meditating and talking to myself and forcing myself to make these sacrifices. Lessons I’ve learned along the way have been to surround myself with like-minded people and people who will support you. No hate, no judgment, no envy. I want the world to know that I am human and only want better. Better for the world, better for my family/friends, and better for myself.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First I’m picking him up from the airport because ATL airport is crazy. Then we’re going straight to JJs and tell him to get the 6-piece wing dinner and it’s only going to be $11. Then we’d visit around Battery Atlanta or slide to Little Five Points for thrifting. Next, we’d go to the crib to chill because he’s just getting off the plane. Then, go to Ponce to get chicken tenders from this one chicken place I know. Then, we’d slide out to some bars.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I’d like to shoutout GOD for blessing me with the clarity and creativity I needed to even start this journey. Next, I’d like to shoutout my brothers, Cam and Bren. They always motivated me to keep going with YouTube and always try to be in my videos. Cam watches every single video and tries to watch every stream I do. I’d also like to shout out my girlfriend Amira for always motivating me and letting me know I can do everything I put my mind to. Lastly, I have to shoutout my Mom and Dad for helping me with getting through the times I thought I couldn’t do something and believing in my dream.
