Meet Bryan Hill | Film Director, Film Producer, Artist & Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryan Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryan, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve ever made was to become an entrepreneur. I grew up with hard working parents who always kept a great job. Most of my family work great jobs and work really hard at them. I have always maintained a job of some sort since age 16. At age 19 I decided it was worth trying to be an entrepreneur. My decision came final at age 21 after becoming manager at my current job. I was managing people twice my age and I felt that I didn’t want to end up stuck doing something I did not love doing. So I became a part entrepreneur and still working on becoming a full time entrepreneur.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Artlysium Inc was founded in 2016. I became an artist in 2014 after years of not painting or drawing. I was inspired to create because I needed an outlet that matched my passion for music. I realized I was growing apart from hip hop when it originally allowed me to express myself vocally for many years since 2011. I decided to paint my first poster board and from there grew a passion unlike any other. I create abstract art and after finding peace with painting I decided to push the envelope and sell my work. I went to farmers markets and festivals all over the state of arkansas. I then traveled to Miami flordia , Atlanta Georgia and Los Angeles California. I fell in love with large murals and the beach. I came back to arkansas renewed and fully dedicated to growing and expressing myself visually. After selling over 200 paintings in 6 years I decided to transition into bodypainting. It’s another art form that allows me to connect with people and showcase freedom through art. Falling in love with creating was the easiest thing I’ve ever done.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Things that I love doing can be done anywhere in the world. Depending on which city I’m currently traveling and exploring in I would say art museums. I find myself meeting wonderful people art museums and outside of public art galleries. The next thing I would recommend is going by your local theatre and watch some actors improv. I enjoy beaches as well so if located close I can spend 2-3 hours at the beach. Libraries are still fun when your randomly book reading for research. I like going running and hiking in places for exciting adventures.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give love and admiration to the women in my life. My mother, my Girlfriend and my Business partners are all women. I want to thank them for believing in a dream. I want to thank them for dreaming big and taking all the necessary steps to achieve greatness. My mother always presented me with books to read. She encouraged my openness and willingness to take a stand for what I believed in. By nurturing the idea that I could be what I wanted to be in life but not without hard work and dedication.
