We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke G. Tolbert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brooke G., why did you pursue a creative career?
My parents have always said that I was a drama queen! Since I was very little, I’ve been very outgoing and funny and dramatic! So when it came to acting, it was natural for me. It really fell into my lap during the pandemic. I watched the Clark Sister’s movie so many times, I almost memorized it. My dad recorded me acting out all of the parts from one of the scenes and the rest is history!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being an actor is not easy! Especially being in school. I have to make sure I get good grades and at the same time study and remember my lines. It gets hard sometimes but I try to stay focused on what is important. Over the years that I have been acting, I’ve learned so much. I’ve learned what it means to sacrifice and I’ve learned what it really means to be dedicated. I want the world to know that Life With Brooke will be a household name! I’m determined to change a little piece of the world through my craft.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Memphis is such a fun place! We have the best food! So I would definitely take my bestie to get some Memphis BBQ! If it was basketball season, we would have to go to a Grizzlies game! People always like to go to Graceland so maybe we would go there. We could go to Shelby Farms and walk or skate and play on the playground. There is so much to do there. I love places like Urban Air so that’s a must. And we would finish out the week going to get ice cream at Menchie’s!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First of all, my parents are my #1 cheerleaders. Acting is my God given gift but they have nurtured my gift and supported me from day one. Secondly, I have a village that includes my family, friends and church members that also encourage me and support all that I do. Lastly, Mr. Princeton Echols, who is somewhat of a mentor and coach, saw something in me and took me under his wing. I’m so thankful to him.
