We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Spaulding and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Art and creating has always been a huge part of my life. For as far back as I can remember, I was always drawing, painting, crocheting, sewing clothes or illustrating stories I’ve made up. As I’ve approached my adult years, I figured out that I can turn what I love and am naturally good at, into something people are drawn towards.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create one of a kind fiber art, wallhanging and decor. I grew up crocheting and while I was knee deep in postpartum life, I wanted to learn something different. I had a ton of yarn in storage, which I pulled out, took an online class and went from there. It’s taken me almost 6 years to get where I am now. I’ve created my own aesthetic of fiber art, which includes lots of chunky details, curated fibers and other natural materials. There have been many challenges along the way, over saturation on Instagram being the main one. But sticking to creating what I love has remained a constant.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My partner Jason for always being my handyman and cheerleader
