Meet Brittany Richardson | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Growing up, I always had a creative streak! I was the kid always drawing, painting, and creating crafts with random found items around the house. Never met a glue gun or popsicle stick that I didn’t just love! As a child, when asked “what do you want to be when you grow up? My answer was consistently “an artist and a teacher!” Look at me now, excelling at both! Exceptional Education Kinder teacher by day, super dope Brittcaso by night! I’ve always used art to creatively express myself. The project, the materials, the intricate selected colors, the small details, are all contributions to whatever visions I’d had in mind. When the pandemic hit, I created Bad & Boozy Sip & Paint To-Go to share in the sip & paint experience in the comfort of your own home! As a growing small business, I now provide custom made canvases and paint kits for all occasions; Ladies night, teacher appreciations, baby showers, date night, school functions, groups small and large. You imagine it, I create it!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started Bad & Boozy Sip & Paint to-go during the pandemic of 2020. A moment that forever changed the world. There was a huge reduction in physical activity, leading to an increase in sedentary behavior time. People began to spend more time on the internet and binging TV. The loneliness associated with strictly enforced social distancing led to an increase in anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress in everyone. As a primarily social butterfly, this was a very difficult time for me. I then traced back to my artistic roots. I began creating again! I used painting as a stress relief aide! Painting is a practice of creative release. Releasing anxiety in the form of painting helps people unwind and let go of all the pressures that disturb the mind. Painting allowed me to focus on the present moment, during this restricted time at home. I would turn on a good R&B playlist, gather my canvas and vibe out with my thoughts. Expressing myself and exploring my imagination with each stroke of the paint brush. I started Bad & Boozy Sip & Paint to-go so that others may share in the painting experience in the comfort of their own homes!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother and sisters have always been my greatest supporters! Since a child, they’ve regularly encouraged my artistic talents. Growing up, it was like “yeah, she’s good!”. When I became a young adult, and my skills continued to grow, they were like “Ohh she’s good good!”. Which quickly turned into daily reminders that I was “sitting on my talents” and needed to bet on myself and get out there! So huge shout out to mother Pam, who is quite the artist herself! Always, always, always contributed to my imagination, which developed into reality ;mentally, financially ;P, and her originality! Watching Mom’s constant doodling, coloring and ingenuity helped pour into the artist I am today! Without fail, my older sisters Tam and Kiki have pushed me daily to use my gifts! “You are so creative!”, “You got this B”, “You already know what I’m about to say”….*smirk* we’re constant reminders and support!
Shout out to every single customer who’s decided to support my vision<3
