We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Howard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I originally started my business at first it was a Hustle but I then gained a lot of knowledge by creating a way for me to make extra revenue doing what I love which is being a chemist. bartending is nothing but chemistry and I always loved chemistry in high school creating new things to make something better improve it or creating something new that nobody has ever seen before

I became more intrigued with finding out ways of how I could either create a drink that no one had ever created or improving a drink that someone had already created. Honestly a lot of people will never know this but bartending saved my life in more ways than one.

My company saved my life. Me wanting to build a brand and legacy so my family would have something after I’m gone is always the goal.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Queens cocktails was just a dream honestly I went from working at Ameristar casino where I had a bad gambling problem which led me to be homeless for a timer to him and a learned how to bartend while I was working at Ameristar and I fell in love with it my trainer at the time made me fall in love with creating things. He once told me that ever customer is different but the goal was the same to have a good time. While replenishing their thirst.

The first company that came to be was my cooking company because I did have a passion for cooking due to my dads mom being a chef for the united state marine corp. the company Queen Brè’s Eats and Treats began. I’d honestly look back now and tell that girl you may want to wait until you have a better business plan. Of course this company bled me dry and I ended up getting evicted from my apartment, and went to live back with my grandmother. Once living with her I began working at juicy seafood. First I started off as a server but after a year I became a bartender. I also was the lead bartender, but working as a full time assistant property manager, and bartender I started just strictly working on the weekends at Juicy.

Fun part began because literally I had a clientele, and any bartender that worked with me was guaranteed to leave with no less than $500-$600 in their pocket. I was that b**** if you know what I’m saying lol. But as I gained more love for my craft I quickly started creating a business plan.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly my best friend and I would be at Sivas, Mizra’s, or Halo Atlanta. We love us some good hookah, and some good food. The Cafe Downtown would be another pick not to mention hitting the Ponce Market as well. The other place we would have to visit is the MLK tour, I also would want to go to the Georgia Aquarium.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a lot of recognition to my family and honestly without them and understanding what they wanted me to do and succeed in life truly there would never be a business. my family would sometimes get onto me about the choices that I chose to make in life and now that I have relocated to another state and I no longer have a Safetynet it makes me cherish those life lessons that they told me about or had me understand that each decision that I made in the moment was a very stupid one.

To be homeless at one point and literally have no one because my family got fed up with a lot of the choices that I chose to make my goal now is to make up for those dumb choices that I made in my early 20s and fulfill the successful nature that I know my family has instilled in me
