We had the good fortune of connecting with Brit Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brit, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always had a passion for helping people. Back in 2016, I realized that I had a passion for business as well. What better way to help others than to assist them in making more money in their businesses? I mapped out all of my strengths: organization, implementation, strategy, and so much more. I started as a virtual assistant and quickly realized that business owners are creatives, and they need impeccable implementers to help bring their visions to life. This was me, and I knew I could create a business providing CEOs with a fractional COO to help them transform their business(es) and their lives.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am most proud of the culture I’ve created for my team. I don’t know where I would be without them. It’s important to me to show gratitude to those who are part of my journey and help me reach my goals. I am so proud of my team.
I got to where I am in business by being self-taught. I tried the whole college thing, and it wasn’t for me. I dropped out multiple times, then realized I was going for my parents, and not for myself. I am big on not being in all the positions in your business, but understanding how those positions work together to form a flawless system in your business. Be willing to learn every single day, you can’t know enough about business. Also, surround yourself with people who believe in you. Business is hard as hell! People show the glitz and glam and never show the tears and sweat! Having people in your corner to push you when you hit those breaking points and that support you is crucial.
When you are overcoming challenges, you always have to remember your WHY! Why are you doing this? Every time I hit a breaking point, outside of having an immaculate support system, I would think about why I started doing this in the first place.
Some lessons I’ve learned along the way:
Self-discipline is crucial to success
Mindset truly matters in business
Consistency is key.
Clarity is super important
Always have a 3-year plan
Implement systems + automations in your business
I want people to know that no matter WHAT your current circumstances are, you can do anything you WANT to do. It’s not easy, by any means, but if it’s something you want – you can attain it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am 100% a hippie and in love with nature. I am one to find the best hikes to the most beautiful waterfalls, find the magical/spirtual festivities/places, and the most beautiful beaches possible.
I love all things water and travel!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my best friends: Krystal Parks, Dwayne Martin, and Jaquavious Gaines for introducing me to entrepreneurship!
I want to thank Beejal Palmer for teaching me about systems, processes, and team building.
I want to thank Austin Netzley for his wonderful book 6 to 7 figures which helped me streamline my thought process for helping businesses.
I want to thank EllieOBM and all my friends that have supported me over the years (you know who you are)!
