We had the good fortune of connecting with Brielle Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brielle, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by so many different things, but I’d say my hometown influences me the most. Florida is a crazy beautiful place. My eclectic taste definitely developed there. I live in New York now, and it’s just as weird but in a different way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My earliest memories involve art. It’s been so deeply ingrained in my life for so long that it made sense for me to continue my art education through graduate school. I studied drawing and painting and then moved to New York City hoping that I would integrate myself into the Fine Art community. Naturally, as things go in the city, nothing went as planned once I arrived. The city really sucks you in and spits you out if you aren’t careful. I ended up working in set design for a few years and fell in love with fashion and being on set. I finally have my own art studio and I’ve been making my own designs on secondhand clothing. I’m so proud of my journey and how far I’ve come. Believing in myself is a daily practice, almost like strengthening a muscle. I really believe if you take care of your mind first, the success will follow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooooo great question! I live in Queens and there are so many gems. To eat, I’d check out Runa, Sushi on Me, and Sananrom Thai. I’d visit MoMA PS1 and the sculpture garden. Then, I’d hangout in Flushing Meadows Park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my partner who grounds me, supports me, and loves me more than I could ever imagine.
