Meet Brianne Stretch | Licensed Aesthetician & Body Sculptor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianne Stretch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brianne, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
I would love to start off by sending my appreciation to the Shoutout ATL team for allowing me to interview with you, I’m thankful for you and Voyage ATL for being so welcoming to my business.
The most important lesson my business has taught me has been to become and stay adaptable, and to act out of professionalism, not out of emotion. Since I started my business 2 years ago to now, I have grown so much mentally and have learned to always expect the unexpected. I am thankful that my business has been able to change my mindset in a positive manner and has allowed me to see that you can do anything that you put your mind to. However, it is not easy. Becoming more adaptable has allowed me to become an individual that’s able to handle almost any situation. When you are self employed, most of the time you are the only person you have to make the decisions in what goes on in your business. If you’ve never been exposed to Entrepreneurship before it can become a little nerve wracking, especially since I consider my brand my baby. For example, I use to be scared of changing my policies out of my emotion of thinking “wow, nobody is going to want to support me after I change this, or will a certain decision affect how customers see me as a brand”, when really it has aligned me with some of the most amazing people. I have learned to act and react more as an business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am The Skin Doll. I make beautiful people even more beautiful! To be specific, I am an Esthetician and Body Sculptor. I have the honor of meeting clients who may have concerns with theirselves and I offer the treatment to best fit their beauty or wellness needs. I have been in the Industry for 3 years, and I have been enjoying every minute of it. What sets me apart from others is my personality. I like to be able to adapt to each of my clients to give them the best experience with me and to make them feel comfortable because I feel like you could offer the best services in the world but if you can’t get people to simply like you or want to be around you then you won’t flourish. I would have to say the thing that I am most proud of about my business was opening. There was a point of time where I never expected to have the keys to my own skin studio, so the fact that this is my reality warms my heart. Also, I would say I’m proud of the opportunity I’ve had to host a giveaway with Good Molecules, as seen in Ulta! They are such an amazing affordable skincare line and I’m hoping to be able to work with them again in the future! One thing I want the world to know about my story is that I’m an advocate for never giving up on your dreams, no matter how far fetched they may seem. If you were blessed with a vision, you can be blessed with it’s reality with hard work and faith.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I reside in Charleston, South Carolina! When I think of the best time I ever that I could take somebody who has never been here on, I would include beautiful water side views, good drinks, food and a relaxing atmosphere exploring Charleston and our history. I am a big foodie! I would definitely recommend for anybody to enjoy some of our nice rooftop bars located downtown Charleston near the Market, or the nice restaurants in Shem Creek, which is just over the bridge! Personally, I believe Charleston has the best seafood you can find and I’m willing to bet a crab leg on that! Additionally, I think Charleston is great if you enjoy water activities, such as jet-skiing, or taking private boat tours through out the city. We also have a variety of lounges and clubs to meet new people and learn about the culture, since Charleston has a lot of history and Geechie culture which can be seen and heard through native’s food, vernacular and music.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have several people that come to mind when I think about who helped me want to take that leap of faith into my passion. The first amazing woman I want to thank is my Esthetic’s Instructor, Mrs. Crystal. She really is a phenomenal woman and an inspiration. Since the first day I joined her class, she had such a magnetizing aura about her. You could tell she was dedicated to making sure her students got the best education in Esthetics, as well as a loving leader that wanted to see all of us genuinely succeed. I honestly don’t believe I would have been as passionate about Esthetics if it wasn’t for her, and I’m grateful to have learned from the best.
Secondly, I want to shoutout my delightful mother. I’m so blessed to have a parent figure who allowed me to go after my passions and supported me in the best way that she could. It definitely warms my heart when I tell her of my achievements and she tells me how proud she is of me, I love her dearly. It inspires me to keep going. She’s my safe keeper.
Lastly, I would like to shoutout my best friend, Jocelyn. She is the Sweet to my Tea. We both have 2 completely different careers paths, but it’s mind blowing how similar our journeys actually are, and how we are able to motivate one another. She’s always been there to listen to my idea’s and push me when things got tough, we have adapted a “never give up no matter how tough it may get” mindset because of it.
