We had the good fortune of connecting with Bria Davenport and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bria, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
‘Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.’ This can be very stressful for the career queen trying to get to the bag & be all she can be. It can be overwhelming to have this mindset because you simply can’t do it all. I know this message is mainly about procrastinating but it is helpful to know you can’t do everything, every day…you have to have a plan. Plans help you stick to your boundaries & if that means you need to do that one task tomorrow in exchange for a nap then do what’s best for you!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
By day I am a middle school program coordinator for a local non-profit, I really enjoy the work I get to do with the kids. I really enjoy creating an experience with our programming that they will never forget. I’m such a creative at heart and I love helping others & often my work finds me! Creating planners & helping ladies get organized is not at all what I had in mind but God had other plans! I simply started just sharing my planning habits & my planner on Instagram then I started recieving DMs asking “how do you do this?!”. I had no idea that adults would want help getting organized or using a planner but I started sharing a little bit more weekly about different tips to stay organized and about doing all the things without getting overwhelemed then one of my boss friends was like “You should just make your own planner!”. That was not at all in the plans, I was so into my job/position at the time plus I was hosting events around the city for women so I didn’t really have time to make a planner but if people ask I try to deliver! So I created a small 6-month version of the Gather Your Life planner, it had a short guide on how to make a schedule then planning pages to help you learn how to use a planner. I had so many hiccups with that initial launch & was like I’m never doing this again or atleast not for awhile. 2020 comes & I start blogging my tips but I was running out of ideas and I wasn’t interested plus it was the start of pandemic so it wasn’t much to blog either. I went back to the planner idea & found out about this planner business course for how to create digital planners. I knew ladies had asked about the digital planner option so I tried it out. The digital planners started selling, I was talking on lives & digital conferences; it honestly started happening so fast that I was in awe! Sometimes we just have to try things again a different way even if it doesn’t work the first time! I thought about doing services but then people were like are the physical planners coming back so I started working hard to figure out how to not have what happened in 2019 happen again. I look at overseas manufacturers & that price wasn’t something I was going to be able to pay so instead, I started looking into what I needed to make them in my house. I started buying equipment with each check, a printer then a big cutter & more! Now I literally make each planner in my home which allows me to have control over production times & my launch dates cause I think we all know with COVID shipping inventory is a HUGE risk right now. I was excited to be able to sell planners then having ladies post their excitement on IG then bring in more followers. The Gather Your Life planner is so unique because it’s not just any planner! It has a guide to getting “Gathered” with a block schedule then a 2-step planning process that you can use with your planner plus planning pages, personal & home section! It’s everything a boss woman would need who’s trying to keep up with it all! Plus I have been able to create my little community I like to call the “Gather gang” & I keep up with them with the Gather Gang Hub that has video tutorials in it plus try to keep up with content to show how I use mine. This journey has been pretty fast but I am really excited to see what’s next! In 2021, I am doing bi-monthly planner drops with limited runs of exclusive covers. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think my mom did an awesome job of keeping a village around me growing up. She always took a lot of initiative in where I went to school, what activities I was involved in to make sure I felt safe and taken care of. Having that in my life helped me to cross paths with so many powerful people in my community & some outside of my immediate community. This gave me different viewpoints of what it looked like to be successful, be apart of your community & I think most folks I would name would have no clue how much impact they had on me.
