We had the good fortune of connecting with Bri Toria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bri, why did you pursue a creative career?
It was imprinted in my brain for years and the more I ran from it out of fear the more it chased me down . Music and creating have always been healing for me and when I was a kid I always said if I had 1 super power it would be to heal the world so why not partake in all avenues to heal the world with my gifts from Divine. Why continue to run from it when it was handed to me ? This movement is bigger than me and I am enjoying the ride
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I own a business “The Melanin Universe” , the branches are still growing and baring fruit . I am an artist (singer , songwriter, spoken word, rapper) , certified spiritualist and life coach . Soon to be so many things , these next couple of years I have so much planned but can’t disclose too much yet .
I got to where I am by being determined and a hustla of course haha . Whatever I put my mind to , I go all out to achieve and having a therapist helps keep everything in perspective.
Was it easy ? Of course not lol , it’s never easy . You learn a lot about the industry , the people and your “close” circle while doing something out of the norm. I use my meditation practices to help me maintain my focus and mental wellbeing .
I have learned is to believe in yourself. As long as YOU believe in it that is all that matters . The Divine has given you the vision , you must follow where you see that vision taking you. You cannot force anyone to see the road you feel is best to heal you realize that vision.
I worked hard for everything and struggled way past what the eyes of social media or the outside world can see I can continue to be unapologetically authentic . I have worked hard to get to this stage . I tried to be an example of how hard work and perseverance will lead to success no matter what you leave behind . That is what I want the world to know , that it my brand and that is my story.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Flagstaff during the “winter” time or Sedona. One thing I have missed is the snow , not shoveling it haha , but playing in the snow and feeling it . The smell of pine cones and real trees I miss so much so for anybody I would recommend Flagstaff for that. Sedona for more of the spiritual taste test of back home , see a new vision of it more on the native view
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I just want to give a shoutout to the divine , the people who saw me when I did not see myself and who believed in me when I did not believe in myself. My supporters, fans and my family I have/am creating
