We had the good fortune of connecting with Brenden Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brenden, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think risk is absolutely necessary – Is it uncomfortable? Absolutely. But that doesn’t always make it a bad thing. Sometimes taking a risk can be as small as posting something on social media knowing that you’ll be perceived. In that case, the risks are that you have people that hate your video, and the other hand is that people might love it. Taking the risk to post one video is the one move that led me to where I am today as a full time musician and influencer!! Taking risks is all that I do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a full time violinist and influencer. I started by posting Bad Bunny violin covers on TikTok, which then translated to me playing those exact covers at peoples weddings. String/violin covers of our favorite Latino songs are very scarce, so I wanted to provide something back to my community. I learned that the wedding and private event space was very much not for my community, and I still see it to this day… So what sets me apart is that I can provide a Latino luxury experience in a space that was not originally designed for us and is still not catered to us. My goal is to take up space and make people realize that these dreams are for everyone, not just one group. I wouldn’t say it was easy, but I definitely was in the right place at the right time and I chose to ride that wave, which is how I got to where I am now. I’ve learned that it’s always important to take breaks, and remember to keep creating for yourself. You also need to decide if you are doing this for you or for the money, because that answer will determine your relationship with your craft.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to downtown Chicago for one of the days to see the Bean, Grant Park, that one huge fountain, then other days I’d take them to Pilsen on 18th and Racine for some nightlife, West Loop, Logan Square, and BOYSTOWN for a fun queer experience!!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This might be corny, but my mom is literally the reason I picked my instrument cause I knew the violin was her favorite – Neither of my parents forced me to play music or the violin. In fact, they encouraged me to pursue it if I actually wanted to and if I cared about it. They came to my concerts, helped me with finding private lessons, and supported my social media journey from the beginning as well. They’ve been my biggest supporters – They’re here while I have 550k+ followers, and they were there back when I had zero followers.
