Meet Bre J | Business Owner, Influencer, Revolutionist & Degreed

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bre J and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bre, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was “doing something I love and incorporating it with things I am passionate about” . Legally Swim Co. was thought of because I absolutely love swimwear, I love myself and women embracing their bodies in whatever style and color. I believe having a message behind every story is important and sells so I definitely wanted to think about that when starting my own business. I thought of how to inspire myself, young and old “bees”, because a business is bigger than you, it’s about your audience and community. What do you bring differently to the table that many sit at with the same products.
Moral of my process was how to stand out while inspiring.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
A little about my career I am a ‘Field Organizer’ I organize grassroots movements, I help unify people around a common goal, a field organizer is the face of political campaigns. In my career I am most proud of making a change and applying my knowledge to the communities I serve. Some challenges I had to overcome during my career is rejection and adjustments to my teachings or learnings, becoming humble during certain situations. I want the world to know about myself, brand and story is I come from challenges and you work through them, you push and support others. You create the life you want to live, be different and always be you because someone will feel it, someone will love it, someone will be inspired, quality over quantity and always shoot for the stars. I am not an ideal business owner, but I am that girl and I am doing it! Have faith in your dreams, live out your purpose, be confidence and trust the process.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting I would take them to Atlantic Station for fun outdoor shopping and eating, Atlanta has a great nightlife so bars and lounges would definitely be on the itinerary for great drinks and dancing,
Lastly, I would say the aquarium it’s very beautiful and the dolphin show is great.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to Shoutout my amazing support system, honestly without family such as my super mom Bonita she traveled, invested, believed in my vision, she pushes me and supports me in ways I could only dream I would be less without her, siblings Breina, Amarie Brandon, Marion, Justin my Grandparents Brenda, Della, Paul, and Connie, my great grandmother Bell and her heartfelt words to keep my encouraged, all my cousins supporting me such as William, Taylor, Destiny, and my aunts from being my photographer for one of my most popular collections to another being my personal mega phone telling anyone willing to listen! I also would Shoutout my great friends just to name a few Mackenzie, Jamie, Tyonna, Demarcus, Arion, Kennedi, Kayla my photographer. It’s so many people I wish I could list my support team is the best I am very blessed and so grateful to have them. They push me and constantly keep my head on straight, I know many entrepreneurs don’t have a large support system like me and they are my reasons to success. I owe it all to them, thank you all. Even the ones I missed or couldn’t mention you are appreciated I swear!
