We had the good fortune of connecting with Braxton Simpson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Braxton, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
This is such a great question! I have always been a huge proponent for “CURATING COMMUNITY” and aiding in supporting others in going from “PASSION TO PURPOSE” in any and every aspect of their lives. In 2021, I decided to monetize my love and gift for doing this, and start “Braxton Simpson Enterprises,” more affectionately known as BSE!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Braxton Simpson Enterprises is a one-stop shop for support in building your brand, maximizing your social media presence, and taking your career to the next level–and doing that work fuels me each and every day.
I feel so grateful to sit on video-calls several times a week, with clients who reflect my reality–whether it be an HBCU Student running a campaign, an HBCU Grad trying to get their business off the ground, a young Black woman needing support in building their resume, or a twenty-something trying to take their social media presence from “Passion to Purpose.”
More than anything, I am so proud of our focus on “CURATING COMMUNITY.” Community has been one thing that has helped me to go from “PASSION TO PURPOSE,” it’s been the lifeline for my business, and it has been the most important piece of engagement through my influencing journey, and it continues to remain at the center of success for my clients, my business, and my personal life.
If I could share any piece of advice, it would be to lead with love and community in all that you do. If you keep the people you serve at the forefront of your service, you cannot lose. By keeping my clients, internet family, and various communities in the front of my mind and heart–I have watched not only their lives flourish, but my business blossom!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whew! Let’s just say I’m definitely a heels and pumps kind of girl but I can get down with a pair of FILA’s (FOREVER I LOVE ATLANTA!) !
JJ’s Fish & Chicken is a non-negotiable every time I’m in the city, right on Panola road. I need a 4 piece with fries and a frozen peach lemonade!
Breakfast At Barney’s is also a must, I love this brunch spot and the Lamb Chops!
Forks & Flavors is a new Black-Owned Spot, and it’s actually in Kennesaw! It’s definitely my current fav! So much culture, fun, great music, and great food! I love that something like this has been brought to Kennesaw!
The Atlanta University Center is always a great spot, because it is the home to Atlanta’s prominent HBCUs to include, Morehouse. Spelman, Clark Atlanta, and of course Morris Brown.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout the HBCU Community, specifically Tennessee State University, for giving me the space to obtain valuable practice in my area of influence!
From running for Student Government roles, leading organizations, spending time in spaces designed to develop my career, writing and performing speeches, finding comfort in front of a camera, and dressing to impress–prepared me to lean into entrepreneurship.
The rich community, tough love, and key lessons I received at my HBCU have become the focal points and key pillars of my business. Everything I gained at Tennessee State University has prepared me to support others in the same way. Regardless of if my clients and partners attend/attended an HBCU–they will forever be changed and better because of Historically Black Colleges and Universities!
