Meet Brandi Coleman: Owner of Mood Teez

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandi Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At the time I started Mood Teez, I had been working for my full time employer for 15 years. Although it has been a great company to work for, I had no retirement, no 401k, not anything to to sustain me if something was to happen to me. I am also a single mom of 3 and was living paycheck to paycheck. My pastors had been preaching a series and teaching about multiple streams of income and we as children of God supposed to be living here on earth. It definitely wasn’t the struggle I was living. My prayer every morning was for God to show me or give me an idea along with the resources. One day while working and might I add having a great morning, the manager at the time came in with such an attitude or in a “MOOD”. My “Mood” quickly shifted and I thought what if i made my thoughts into T-Shirts! Things I really want to say but can’t! Or shirts to let the world know my “Mood” for the day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
By day, I am a Manager and Hair Stylist of the greatest franchise in the beauty industry. My most important and 24/7 job, I am a single mom of 3. Providing for my family, leaving a legacy and something for my children is most important to me. Creating Mood Teez and my own business has allowed me the process of doing so! What sets Mood Teez apart is that it is very unique! There are not many apparel lines out there about moods! It allows you to wear your mood while being in a mood! It also allows you to say somethings you really want to say without opening your mouth!! lol I believe no business is easy. Getting the right team, having the finances, when is the right time all has and still plays a part in the success of Mood Teez. My current challenge is Covid-19. The world has basically stopped. I had a printing company producing my merchandise and although they didn’t completely shut down, they had their challenges as well which in return, I had a challenge! I remember hearing my pastor say people are still spending money during Covid-19. Which in my head meant, find another way to get your product out there. Research and Resources has been the key to now wanting to print my own product. What I’ve learned is you reap what you put into what you want to flourish. When you work hard everyday, it will eventually pay off. The more I work at Mood Teez, the more orders I receive and the closer it gets me to my goal. Hand outs will get you nowhere but hard work gets the job done. The world needs to know that Mood Teez is for everybody! Everybody has a Mood! It’s fun, It’s unique, It stands out and it’s what the world needs!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am born and raised in Atlanta! Atlanta is known for their food, entertainment and artistry! My best friend is also born and raised in Atlanta as well! Our thing is always to eat somewhere we’ve never eaten before, Go somewhere we haven’t been before for entertain but our biggest thing is to get in the car and go where we want. If there is a concert or restaurant or anything we want to try….we go. The fun thing is…..it’s mostly out of town. Nothing like a few hours in the car with your best friend!!!! We do all of these things rocking Mood Teez shirts!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people who play roles in every success! Would not be anywhere without God who leads and guides me every step of the way! My mom who supports every idea and even makes purchases and asks for nothing. I have the best Best Friend who sits up late at night and help with websites, who stops what she’s doing to make a Mood Teez change, who hears my ideas and help to bring them forth and who caught the vision with me and make sure I’m pushing my dream. Justraw Creatives who took on the task of creating my vision, website and bringing my vision into fruition. My Pastors who supports, dreams, teach and invest into the lives of the people.
