We had the good fortune of connecting with boy blue and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi boy, what makes you happy? Why?
My creations, and my relationships with my friends and family. Getting constant love from many different people all the time has driven me to of an unconscious mind state of power. It can really boost the value I hold for myself so it’s always needed.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Starting off my art journey was really rough because I knew what field I wanted to pursue in, but the confidence wasn’t in me. I would barely draw or anything back around early last year until around May. That was definitely when I started gaining confidence and consciousness within myself. I began noticing just how my brain operated and started shaping what would later be more than a hobby. Soon, the more and more that I progressed with my art, I came into realization that this was going to be more than a simple coping mechanism. Ever since I have conquered self-doubt and my fears of what the people around me say, the growth has been exponential. From the following to my social pages, to my actual sales, this year alone has boosted everything. To get where I am professionally it has taken a lot of studying of who I want to be and consistency with my work. It definitely has not been easy but as I’m growing more I learn new ways such as marketing and managing. By far trying to balance out college and my art has been one of the biggest challenges yet. With just the amount of things I have learned by simply taking the route as an artist is mind-blowing. My goals for this is to not only find and grow with myself, but to empower the people out there struggling mentally in every way possible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Off rip, I’d love to go to Little Five Points. You can meet anybody you’d want to see there, eat whatever type of food you love, and make some of the most random connections that you won’t ever expect. Every time I go there I have to go eat at Savage Pizza or grab a couple of things from Rag-O-Rama. That location was definitely an eye opener that I will forever be grateful in my younger days. If not Five Points, then the next location would be Ponce City Market or Midtown. The scenery in both of those places is amazing and unforgettable. Just about anywhere in the city is fine with me. Anywhere away from home is a good time that I’ll remember.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
