Meet Racean Ford & Boomer Woods Jr. | Executive Director| Co-Founder, Chief Financial Officer| Co-Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Racean Ford & Boomer Woods Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Racean and Boomer, what do you attribute your success to?
One of the most important factors of Bright1’s Path Inc’s success is our ability to meet those who are homeless, undervalued, or alone where they are. You never know a person’s true story by just examining the outer appearance. We’ve learned by having meaningful conversations, providing essential necessities, and showing genuine love and concern enables us to create and maintain impactful relationships while rebuilding trust within our marginalized communities. In doing so, we’ve created the first free-grocery delivery program in Atlanta that offers up to 50lbs of food to those in need.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At B1P we focus on empowering those who are undervalued, alone, homeless, or facing health difficulties by creating, coordinating, and maintaining Brighter Paths.
Besides our free-grocery delivery program, our iACT (individualized Art Creative Therapy) programs allows anyone to freely express themselves when words aren’t able to do the job. By utilizing different avenues such as creative dance, canvas panting, sculpting & creative design we’re able to tap into what’s hurting or bothering us and release those traumas in a Brighter Way.
We love to encourage those around us to keep Moving FORwarD, in-doing so we’ve seen that our various programs open different opportunities for those who are involved. Some fall in love with new hobbies and others are often creating new businesses that they didn’t know they had a love for previously. Through economic development and social training, we love to rebuild those who feel like no one else cares.
Our five-year vision is to work with our communities to acquire land and build housing resources for those who are in need of a safe space to sustain a better lifestyle without feeling stigmatized.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Riding scooters through Grant Park and on the beltline gives you a beautiful view of the city from multiple angles, along with all the different sculptures, paintings, and graffiti murals. Skating at Cascade skating rink is always fun for a night of laughter and good music. Atlanta is a big city with heavy traffic so if you ever have a need for speed Andretti’s is the perfect place for family fun and excitement. We also like to stay active so a day with friends at the paintball field topped off with some seafood from Joe’s or a homecooked meal does the body great!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God always deserves the credit and glory. He strengthens us daily and pushes us to keep going where we may not have wanted to push ourselves. We would also love to give equal credit to the communities that we service in particular, Fulton, Dekalb, Doughtery, Douglas, Crisp, & Clayton counties to name a few of the 50 counties we service. We have the privilege of engaging directly with our members and received tons of feedback that enables us to create impactful programs that are proven to start a brighter path for those involved.
GOD1ST Technologies Group Inc. (https://GOD1St.Tech) has invested thousands of dollars worth of modern technology and services that assist us with our daily operations. GOD1ST has also sponsored many of our engagements and services.
We’d love to give a BIG shoutout to Monique McCauley of MoMc Creations (momccreations.com) who has been a huge supporter, partner but most importantly — she mentors us in business and keeps us grounded spiritually.
We also believe that Grammy award-winning Bishop William Murphy III & the dReam Center Church of Atlanta deserves to be recognized for opening many doors and also holding us accountable to our inner selves. We’re happy to publicly announce for the first time that we are partnered with the dReam Center Church to offer pantry and social services on-site.
Nathan Townsend of the Consumer Caucus and HIV Planning Council for his guidance, leadership, mentorship, and love.
Officer Eric King and the City of Atlanta Police Department LGBTQ Liaisons for their support and legal advice.
Darie L.K. Wolfson of CommunityScape Services, Inc. has assisted us with assuring everyone we meet has equal opportunities to health care and health insurance.
