We had the good fortune of connecting with Bo Lavish and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bo, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
As a Hip-hop/Rap artist in a city full of “rappers,” a few habits that have helped me succeed are prayer, consistency, and discipline. Without these, success would be impossible.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets me apart from other Hip-hop artists is my sound and versatility. Although I was raised in Atlanta, I have a unique sound. I am proud of the moves I’ve made in such short time. I’ve been consistently pursuing my career as an artist a little over a year now. But because of God’s favor coupled with my consistency, I have been able to make major moves such as one of my singles, “Playing Yourself,” being played on Hot 107.5, Detroit’s No. 1 radio station for Rap, Hip-hop and R&B. Among other accomplishments, I’ve also had the opportunity to have my music played during games for the NBA Portland Trailblazers. I am excited for what the future holds. In 2019 I got caught up in an unfortunate situation that led to some jail time. During that season I discovered my purpose of becoming a music artist and made a vow to myself that I would begin taking it seriously. Music has always been a part of me since I was a kid. My father is also a musician, so I’ve been exposed to quality, “good,” music all my life. Getting to where I am now definitely hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it. I overcome challenges by putting everything in the hands of the Lord through prayer. I realized early on that there isn’t much I can do on my own. Also, remembering to reflect has helped me. Sometimes you have to remember how far you’ve came and focus less on how far you’re trying to go, though both are equally important. Along the way, I’ve learned that everyone’s journey and blueprint is different, detach yourself from results, and don’t compare yourself and your success to others. A common theme I express through my music is authenticity. It’s okay to be yourself. Listen to my song, “Won’t Change.” Not only was it my debut record, it is also the song that sort of set the tone for who “Bo Lavish” is at the core.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a chill dude. So, I’d probably take them to a chill, low-key spot like a bar or lounge. I may even consider taking them somewhere relaxing like a massage parlor. To be honest, most of our time would probably be spent in the house chillin’, grillin’ and catching up. Over the last year, I would have to say the most interesting place I have been to is Jeju Sauna with my significant other. It was extremely relaxing and a “different” experience for me. Jeju Sauna is a public sauna with a steam room, dry sauna, cold tub, two hot tubs, lounge area, and more. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, shout out to the man upstairs [God]! The very reason I am even on this journey is because of Him. Also, I’d like to shout out my family, friends, and supporters! Major shout out to my team Moore Muzik; #MM Baby! Special salute to my significant other, Tonnesha, who keeps me grounded and holds me accountable spiritually and physically daily.
