We had the good fortune of connecting with Blu Daymond and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blu, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to pursue a creative career because through music I have the ability to express myself and the feeling is liberating. Prior to actually recording music, I used to produce beats and ghost write for a few underground artists, but even in that creative element, I never actually felt like I was given full permission to “mold” the track. As time went on, I realized, “ok..I need to record and express my feelings the way I know how.” I’ve always been an introvert, but with music… I don’t know, it just does something to me, and when you’re doing something you love, it’s not a job, it’s definitely a blessing.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others.
I’m intentional.Every song I write is written with intent to teach. As an artist you take on the responsibility of “feeding” words into somebody’s mind, body and spirit..,you have to be careful and relatable.I think my upcoming project will show that for sure,my previous projects did as well but this one here will show me in my purest form I believe.
What you are most proud of or excited about?
I’m very excited about my upcoming project. This is the first project I’ve worked on with a team. I’ve been able to connect with amazing videographers, producers, content creators, it’s just amazing. I’m very excited for this project to drop and hopefully you guys will like it.
How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy?
The road hasn’t been easy at all. I’ve had some moments when I actually did give up, got up, and ended everything, but they were just that, moments. I’m grateful for those moments because without those, I wouldn’t be here. After a few doors are shut in your face, you just build this armor of protection. You start caring for your craft and yourself more. I can’t give up. This talent I have is special.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Honestly, Blu Daymond is just getting started man. I have so much to offer you guys.I want the world to know that every morning when you open your eyes, you have a chance to start over. Creating is hard, especially when you know you have what it takes. Just breathe.I had to literally learn to breathe. Sometimes it is frustrating, but it is worth it. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My late mother, Michelle Greene was amazing. I believe my mother was one of the first people I saw early on in my childhood “create”. Her party planning business, Mishabrinas Party Affairs, was something special. I used to watch my mother create such detailed centerpieces and detailed parties. She definitely knew her niche as an artist. I’d like to believe that’s where I got it from. My sister Nikki (@Simplyqouture_atl) is one of the best hair and makeup artists in Atlanta, hands down. She’s been in the game for over 10 years now, and her work definitely speaks for itself. She’s very precise, detailed, and educated in her field… so if you’re in Atlanta and need to look like somebody, contact my sister. Lastly, my partner Gianna Thompson is the fire behind my creativity for sure, and watching her grow as a lash tech and an overall entrepreneur over the past 2 years has been a blessing (@pinkauraallure) (megaminxxllc).
