We had the good fortune of connecting with Blake McDaniel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blake, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Making wall decor became a hobby of mine back when the farmhouse style was trendy. In 2016, we decided to move from Ft. Myers, FL, to Georgia and sell our current business. My husband started talking about helping me turn my hobby into more of a business, and I loved the idea of us doing something together.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a passion for putting scripture on our walls and that is mainly the bases for Rooted + Grounded. In the past few years art has tended towards vintage and landscape art. I started putting scripture on vintage art in a subtle way and it has become one of my favorite looks. Art is powerful and can remind you of a place or love or even evoke emotion. Pairing art with scripture allows us to paint a picture of God’s word on our mind and hearts.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love antique shopping, so Circa Antiques in Tyrone, Ga is a must, plus they have the best coffee. We love the quaintness of downtown Senoia and frequently eat at the restaurants down there. Our favorite Weekend Getaway is Blue Ridge, Ga. We love the mountains, hiking and the downtown areas have the cutest shops and restaurants.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Doing this with my husband, Travis McDaniel, has been huge. We are able to encourage each other when we get discouraged. Our church family has been a big help. We moved to Georgia to attend Forward church, and they immediately encouraged us in what we were doing. We also have a great team of people, mainly friends we attend church with. So having a tight-knit community that we do life with and work with has made an enormous difference.
