We had the good fortune of connecting with Blair Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blair, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Most people consider physical therapy as a treatment for rehabilitation from injury. I work in the field of women’s health. My greatest joy is working with women after they give birth (weeks to years, even). I help them not only regain physical strength and prevent them from dealing with ailments such as incontinence, pelvic pressure, pain and abdominal muscle separation, but I also help them create a life where they can find balance between being a mom and continuing to enjoy their pre-child(ren) life. Women need emotional and social support and like to feel empowered and capable. So much of what I do helps them achieve these goals.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Catalyst Physical Therapy is a concierge women’s health practice focusing on the unique needs of women across the life span. We started in 2017, after I left another well known physical therapy practice in which I was a partner. I wanted to be able to practice what I preach – compassion, empathy, support, empowerment, and balance. All businesses experience challenge – that is the fun part of starting and growing it. COVID-19 was especially challenging, as we were shut down for nearly 2 months, just after moving into a new office space and planning for 2020 growth. I was able to use this time to really focus on how I wanted Catalyst to evolve. We were able to emerge with a clear vision for our future and a plan to elevate women’s health in a way that will be transformative. The story of Catalyst Physical Therapy mirrors my own life experiences and those of my patients. We are #morethanphysicaltherapy – we are a community of women. We plan to grow this community and offer services that will be unique in health and wellness.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take her to the Atlanta Beltline. I moved to Atlanta 20 years ago for the intown lifestyle: restaurants, shops, walkable neighborhoods. Even though I now live in the suburbs, I am a city girl at heart. A walk on the beltline would include Piedmont Park, Virginia Highlands shopping, Ponce City Market and all the fun bars and restaurants along the way. This part of town is diverse in race, ethnicity, age and interests. It’s the best way to get a feel for the true heart of Atlanta.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my patients for always inspiring me and giving me a reason to want to do more for the women’s health community, as well as my husband, who is always there to support any business challenge I take on.
