We had the good fortune of connecting with Birago Kufuor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Birago, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting Hair She Goes Salon was deeply rooted in my passion for hairstyling and my desire to help others feel beautiful. What began as a hobby quickly blossomed into a calling, as I realized how much joy I derived from transforming not just hair, but also my clients’ confidence and self-esteem.

I invested time in honing my skills and developing a unique style that resonates with my clients. Each install isn’t just a service; it’s an opportunity to express individuality and creativity. The support and loyalty of my clientele over the years has been incredibly rewarding, motivating me to create a space where everyone feels welcomed and valued.

Ultimately, I wanted to establish a salon that reflects my passion for beauty and community, where clients can not only receive exceptional hairstyling but also enjoy an uplifting experience. Hair She Goes Salon is a manifestation of my commitment to enhancing beauty and fostering self-love, and I am grateful for the journey and the relationships I’ve built along the way.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets Hair She Goes Salon apart is the strong bond I’ve cultivated with my clientele and the unwavering loyalty they show. I take immense pride in not only my technical skill development but also in the relationships I’ve built with my clients. They trust me with their hair, which is a profound responsibility that I cherish deeply. This trust allows me to explore creative styles and techniques that truly reflect their individuality.

My journey to where I am today has been a blend of consistent skill-building and learning the intricacies of running a business. Transitioning from being a hairstylist first to embracing my role as a businesswoman has not been without its challenges. Understanding the best strategies for scaling and growing my business required dedication and perseverance. I overcame these challenges by staying committed to my craft and seeking guidance from mentors and peers in the industry.

Along the way, I’ve learned valuable lessons about resilience, the importance of continuous education, and the significance of nurturing client relationships. I want the world to know that Hair She Goes Salon is not just about hairstyling; it’s about creating a welcoming environment where clients feel empowered and beautiful. My brand embodies a commitment to excellence, creativity, and genuine care for each individual who walks through my doors.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

If my best friend were visiting town for a week, I would ensure they experienced the very best of what our area has to offer. Here’s a little itinerary I’d put together:

Day 1: Culinary Delights
We’d kick off the week with a visit to Gocha’s Breakfast Bar for a delicious, hearty brunch. Their creative takes on classic breakfast dishes would definitely set a positive tone for the trip. Later, we’d indulge in dinner at Eight Sushi, known for its fresh ingredients and innovative rolls, perfect for a memorable dining experience.

Day 2: Art and Culture
On the second day, I’d take my friend to the High Museum of Art, one of Atlanta’s crown jewels. We could spend the day exploring its impressive collection of abstract and contemporary art. Afterward, we’d grab a coffee at a local café and stroll through the nearby Piedmont Park, soaking in the beautiful scenery.

Day 3: Adventure and Leisure
Midweek, we’d enjoy a round of golf at one of the local courses. It’s a great way to relax and enjoy some outdoor time. In the evening, we could unwind at Rocksteady, one of my favorite nightlife spots, known for its vibrant atmosphere and great music.

Day 4: Exploring Local Favorites
I’d dedicate this day to exploring some hidden gems in the city. We’d visit local markets and artisan shops, trying out different street foods and perhaps checking out a few local breweries for some unique craft beers.

Day 5: Nature and Relaxation
We’d spend a day at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park for some hiking and nature appreciation. It’s a perfect escape from the city hustle and offers stunning views. Later, we’d treat ourselves to a nice dinner at a local farm-to-table restaurant to enjoy fresh, seasonal dishes.

Day 6: Entertainment and Fun
To wrap up the week, we’d enjoy a fun night out at a local comedy club or live music venue, experiencing the vibrant entertainment scene Atlanta has to offer.

Day 7: Reflect and Relax
On the final day, we’d take it easy, perhaps revisiting our favorite spots from the week or checking out any last-minute attractions before my friend heads home.
