We had the good fortune of connecting with Bibi Chevallier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bibi, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
The legacy I want to leave behind is one of empowerment. I hope with each time I share my story I inspire someone else to take control of their own narrative. I want to be remembered as a model that empowered other people with large bodies to embraces all parts of themselves while unapologetically taking up space. I also want to be remembered as an advocate for sexual abuse survivors. I want survivors to know that they are the co-creators of their lives and have the power to dictate who they want to be in life despite what has happened to them. It’s never too late to take back your power!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a first-generation Afro-Latina Curve Model with parents from Haiti. I was born in Boca Raton, Florida, and currently live in Los Angeles, California. I can speaks 4 languages with fluency in English and Haitian Creole.
I have experience in FIT, Print, Commercial and Runway modeling. I’m trained in classical, musical theater and jazz vocal performance with a bachelor’s in Music Business. I also have experience in commercial acting for Land O’ Lakes.
As a former gymnast and ballerina, I love using my training to create dynamic shapes during shoots. As an overall creative, I enjoy creating art that pushes the limitations that society often sets on people with larger bodies.
In 2022 I was nominated as Emerging Plus Size Model of The Year by The Fullfigured Industry Awards. I was also featured in Haiti Open’s Hot 100 Young Haitians 2022 and 2023.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Slutty Vegan! Hands down Slutty Vegan is one of my favorite spots in Atlanta. Not only is the food incredible the staff and the vibe set this place apart. With a live dj playing all the hits you can groove to, what’s more to ask for? I love the way the staff takes a personal approach to interacting with their customers in person and on social media. You truly feel part of a family, the southern way.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a huge shout out to my family and friends especially my cousin Jojo. She’s been my biggest support throughout my journey as a model and I appreciate her so much!
