Hi B.Ankha, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am born and raised in the Bronx, NY. I feel like growing up here has molded me into being not only a strong individual but also be able to adapt to many situations. In New York City I feel you gain thick skin regardless just growing up with all busyness, the activity , the diversity , the inflation and just the gritty yet beautiful environment in general. This has impacted me to be able to do anything I set my mind to because I am strong, can adapt , and have thick skin. Growing up also gives you that extra “Umph” to be the go getter that I am to conquer goals I acquire for myself.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is my literal child. What I feel sets me apart from others in this field is authenticity. With me what you see is what you get , even if I hit the world with a curveball musically it is 100% authentically ME.I am a free bird & a social butterfly so I like that to flow through my music no matter the vibe. I feel this sets me apart because there’s a natural comfortability & relation people feel through my music and the personality I feed to my supporters. I can be the girl From next door, the cool homie , the caring mother , or the fun friend ! I have so many sides to me & the music will tell that. Professionally I got to where I am today because I I have gained organization & honestly confidence . I had to sit myself down and believe that I can truly do whatever I put my mind to. It was not easy to weed through the obstacles that come with this industry especially in New York City but thank you to my manager Elus for being that backbone & the wise brain I needed. I have learned that there is a give & take with this field of work and it is not for the weak especially as a female. I have learned that I am a brand and as an independent artist/ creative I have all control on what I want the vision to be . It takes ME to begin this road to success and of course an amazing team to support ! I want the world to feel the energy of B.Ankha like the worlds Bestfriend !
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Here is our week of fun & food in a gist !
Monday –
Morning – we can start the day off with a breakfast date at Cafeteria downtown so that we start in the heart of the city.
For the afternoon, we can make our way to fifth avenue to sight see & shop till we drop.
Lunch – we can head over to grab a quick bite at Raising Canes .
After we can grab a smoothie in K town & end the night at home where I make some homemade pizza. So NY !
Tuesday – we can start the day off getting an açaí bowl from a local juice bar !
For the afternoon , we can take a stroll in Central Park & sight see . Checking some more things off her bucket list .
For dinner we can end the night off at Tao !
Wednesday – we will start the day at the Bronx zoo where Wednesdays are FREE!
Thursday – we can sleep in a little & then make our way to a spa day at Eureka body spa on the upper west side. Their service is amazing ! we can grab a cocktail at Mezzio , a Mexican restaurant in the city !
Friday will be dedicated to music where I can take you around some of the most dope studios in NYC. I’m talking legendary spots where Celebs have recorded !
THE REST OF THE WEEKEND:
We can do to the jersey mall , grab a bite at a local
Hibachi spot & enjoy some music at a night club in queens called Alpha.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate & shout out my amazing management Elus. He has not only believed in me but also took the time out to teach me & guide me to not only acquire the head space for all my goals but also, weeding out the good & bad that comes with this industry. Elus had physically invested money into me as a brand and continues everyday to help me get to where I want to be. We have been in this together since 2017 . With my talent & his brains , the sky is the limit for us.
