Meet Bianca Ferguson | Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Ferguson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bianca, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I always knew that, given the type of person I am, working for myself would be the most fulfilling path. As I grew in my career, I started to feel the limitations of traditional settings, not because the work wasn’t meaningful, but because I knew I had more to give. My passion for mental health has always been deeply rooted in compassion and connection, and I wanted the freedom to care for people in a way that felt truly holistic and genuine. Starting my own practice allowed me to intentionally create a space where people feel seen, heard, and supported in the way they deserve.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart is my genuine passion for helping people truly understand themselves mentally and feel empowered to get the help they deserve. I don’t take lightly the trust that clients place in me, and I strive to create a space where care feels both clinically sound and deeply human.
Business-wise, getting here was not easy. I’ve faced challenges for most of my life, and perseverance was something I learned early on. Coming from a family that struggled, I always knew I wanted to break cycles and create something meaningful. I was determined to be one of the first in my household to graduate college and go on to earn my master’s degree and that journey came with many obstacles along the way.
Through it all, I’ve learned some of my greatest lessons: patience is essential, failure is inevitable, and things won’t always go your way. Most importantly, I’ve learned that chasing your passion will always be more fulfilling than chasing money.
What I want the world to know about me is that my work is truly heart-driven. The Mind Spa was built with intention, compassion, and a deep commitment to meeting people where they are. My goal has never been just to build a business, it’s to create a space where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to take control of their mental wellness.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, we would have to start the day at The Body Plug Lifting Club. It is a must for me to get a good workout in and set the tone for the day. My trainer is incredibly personable and creates such a welcoming environment, which makes the experience even better.
After that, I am definitely taking them to Harold’s Chicken on Old National. Their chicken is amazing, and it is always a good time. It is one of those classic spots that never disappoints. From there, we would probably do something fun like bowling or head to Topgolf to keep the energy going.
Since we have the whole week, we would definitely spend some time at my safe place, home. I love hosting, and believe it or not, grilling is one of my favorite things to do. I learned how to grill at an early age, so anytime friends come over, the grill is coming out.
The next day, we would take a break from the gym and start with brunch at Toast on Lenox. Their gumbo and fish and grits are amazing. Since we are already by Lenox, we would probably swing through the mall to browse and pick up a few things. After that, I am definitely taking a quick nap to recharge. That part is non negotiable.
To close out the night, we would end the weekend with a great dinner at Divan Restaurant and Bar. It is the perfect vibe to wrap up a full Atlanta weekend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a heartfelt shoutout to my great aunt, Jo. She has truly been a pivotal part of my life. She pushed me, helped raise me, and always made sure I felt loved and supported. So much of who I am today comes from the foundation she helped build in me.
My aunt now lives with dementia, so honoring her in moments like this is the least I can do after everything she has done for me. She is truly a huge piece of my life’s puzzle. I honestly would not be the person I am today without her guidance, strength, and the way she always believed in me, even during moments when I didn’t fully believe in myself.
I’m also incredibly grateful for the friends, mentors, colleagues, and clients who have supported me along the way. My friends in particular have always been present and shown up for me through every stage of this journey. Their encouragement and belief in what I’m building continues to fuel the growth of both myself and The Mind Spa.
