Meet Bethany Roberson | The Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bethany Roberson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bethany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I first started my business, I knew I would be in the health and beauty industry. I’ve always loved skin care, makeup, lashes, and hair. So, I knew that I would follow one of those career paths. I found lash extensions and instantly fell in love with it. I used to wear lash strips all the time so I knew I would love the process of applying them. I never had a business before. I really didn’t know where to start. I began by researching the process of having a business in my state and what’s required to build a business. I knew that it would be a lot of trial and error within the first year. I was also mentally prepared for that. I didn’t want to rush the process. Within four months, I had developed the knowledge and training to start branding myself in the public eye. I started to feel comfortable enough to reach out and put myself out there.  I knew in my mind that I didn’t want to only do lashes. I have a creative spirit and an eye for fashion. I enjoy enhancing the natural beauty as a whole. I’m very passionate about what I do. I work with a purpose. I consider myself a perfectionist. I strive to do and be the best that I can be. I always tell myself to finish what you start and never quit. I’m always trying to figure out ways to make things better. I’m noticing my growth. I work every day trying to find new ways to improve my business. I know there is always room for improvement. Which is why I will constantly be learning ways to expand my business adventure.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I’m very passionate about my work. I love and enjoy what I’m doing. It gives me joy to see a smile on my clients’ faces. When I first started Lash Idol, I knew I didn’t want it to be just about lashes. I wanted to create a brand that expands on other interests. My mind set is to create something for a bigger purpose. I’m a big activist on self-love. There is nothing with loving yourself first. There is also nothing wrong with wanting to enhance your own beauty. In today’s society we are living by a standard created by someone else. There is room for change and growth. Creativity in someone is very powerful, if given the opportunity to express your worth without judgement. Times are changing and so are people. We should be able to express ourselves without judgement. I wanted to create a positive atmosphere for my clients. I want them to feel beautiful in their own way. There is nothing wrong with enhancing your beauty whether it be inside or out. The thing that makes me stand out from the rest is that I am always thinking about other people. I am not judgmental. I have empathy for everyone. I try to think about things with an open mind. I treat people the way that I want to be treated. It’s hard in a world where if you look a certain way that is not the norm, there is room for judgement and it shouldn’t be. Who is to say, the way I look makes me any better than you. People need to realize that no two people are alike. We all have different characteristics about ourselves.  

I’m excited about the plans for Lash Idol. I want my business to flourish. I want to be one of the best lash company in the world. I know that it will take a lot of motivation, preparation, discipline and hard work to make that happen. I look at this process as a first, middle and last which means the last as my goals were accomplished. 

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta has always been the place to go when you want to have a good time. There are so many things you can do down there. Another place is the Illu Marium Experience. It’s a unique museum that creates a nice atmosphere if you’re into artsy things. There are several other restaurants to try.  The Southern Fire Kitchen has a variety of foods to choose from. The Floating Breakfast is another one. You are served while in the water. My favorite place to hang out would be the Andretti, it’s a theme park with so much to do. I personally love Atlanta. The splatter place is a paint studio. This is where I go to create with my creative side. The Skyline Park is for those of you who like floating in the air. The Crystal Loft has a healing and spiritual atmosphere. If you want to have a relaxing massage by the waterfall, Cochran Mills Parkis the place. The list goes on and on. Atlanta is fast paced city and has a lot to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out to my family for being a big part of why I began entrepreneurship. I would be the first billionaire in the making. I want to create opportunities for my family and myself. My parents have worked hard all of their lives. I just want to create an atmosphere for them in their retirement years where they won’t have to worry about whether they are financially secure.  I have seen my parents literally work every day to make sure our family is taken care of. Sometimes, 

When my mom was not feeling well, she still would get up and make sure that we were taken care of. She has always been there for us. She took on a job where she would be there for us when needed. She rearranged her future plans to make sure that she was always available for us. She always made sure that we had what we needed whether she had what she needed or not and I loved her for that. My parents made me who I am today.  I have always wanted great things in life. I am not speaking about material things. I am talking about enjoying and loving the things that I do. My dad used to tell me “No matter what never quit”. Which is why I am so focused on what future endeavors and accomplishments I am trying to achieve. I know that sometimes there will be obstacles in the way. Things may not always go as planned but I will stay focused and contrate. I know that in time everything that I have worked so hard for will be well worth the end result. Anything in life worth having requires hard work and commitment.  I owe it all to God and my family. My family will always support me in whatever my dreams are. They are always encouraging me to be the best me that I can be. I give God all my problems and strive for the best me. My future goal in life is to live life to the fullest and enjoy what I do in the process.
