We had the good fortune of connecting with Bethany Lawrence and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bethany, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started my own business I wanted to have something that was mine. I love what I do, helping my brother run a successful practice in Buckhead, ATL. and before coming to Atlanta I taught school for 15 years and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Although, I was fulfilled in each position I would always feel like I was called to do something bigger something that I was the owner of. When I passed the real estate exam a feeling rushed over me that this was it. The beginning of something great. I could help others which is my passion and build a network in the industry.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In the market today Real estate is at the forefront of the world and agents are a dime a dozen in the field. For as long as I can remember making others happy has been a joy that I love, watching failing students succeed and patients wanting to dance again be able to do so has been fulfilling. I have a passion to help others find and live a dream they may think is impossible. After buying my own home, and the feeling I had when I accomplished that goal I knew I wanted to do that for others. Life has not always been easy, growing up in poverty and being homeless as a kid made me who I am today. Growing up in the projects helped me go to college on a scholarship and I haven’t looked back since. I strive to be great at all I do and help as many individuals in the process. I’ve learned that once you find your passion in life, it makes it easier to accomplish goals. My brand will become my story, an ivy is long lasting and stands the test of time it grows ferociously, a rose is delicate but strong it represents the beauty in life and the struggle you take to get there. Ivy Rose Realty provides a lifestyle where clients bring their dreams and I turn them into reality.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to my favorite sports in Atlanta! Breakfast at Barneys would be my number 1 breakfast places to go the food is amazing. Some dinner or lunch spots would be Harry’s Louisiana Grill in Acworth, Capers in Marietta and of course Pappadeaux. For shopping we would go to Lennox mall or Phipps Plaza. During a day trip we would go to Ponce City Market for games and shopping and one of my favorite vegan places Bar Vegan. For a little nightlife and good cuisine Chef Robs would be at the top of the list!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Who would I shout out on my journey… my daughters who support me in all I do and allow me to be great. My siblings who constantly believe in me and push me to be better at every turn in my career. My mother who sacrificed so much for her children to allow us to be who we are today.
