We had the good fortune of connecting with Bellavita Bree and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bellavita, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose this career because I’ve always been such a free spirit. There’s nothing I love more than being able to express myself through the colors of my hair and my clothes. I can create whatever workspace I desire, at anytime. More importantly, I can spread my love and light through all that I do. I’ve always been the girl with the big smile and the weird colored hair and I love it!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I truly believe my heart is what sets me apart from others in this industry and honestly my clients have always greatly expressed that. I’m super creative in my field rather it’s makeup, lashes, waxing, decorating, etc. I’m very passionate about what I do but I’m more passionate about what makes my clients happy and comfortable. My client’s come first before the money and I make sure they understand this during each service. Going the extra mile to make sure they have no worries or concerns and to reassure them they’ll be handled with care is the biggest part of my customer service and allows for an open level of communication. Anything they experience, they share with me and we either work together to accomplish the same goal or I willingly refer them to someone that’s more their speed because I understand that every client isn’t my client and it takes a lot of confidence to be okay with that. I’m most excited about the way I’ve grown as a business owner and the way Blue Phoenix Wax has flourished. I’ve overcome a lot of challenges but the hardest was learning to understand that every client isn’t going to fall in love with me! LOL. I had to realize that for every client, there’s THEIR perfect esthetician for THEM. I want the world to know that my brand is more than about Esthetics, it’s about love, it’s about coming into space where you can be absolutely free. You can cry if you want, laugh if you want, hek even be mad if you want because I want you to leave decluttered and remembering who you are as a woman and knowing another woman is here for you and has your back. I’m all in when my clients come in because sometimes our hair ladies, nail techs, wax techs are the only ears we have and sometimes the only people who understand your perspective. When life gets tough, you will always be welcomed to Blue Phoenix Wax even when you feel lost because I myself have fully been there and I understand. I’ve been through a lot and a lot of people don’t realize that because they either know my family or see how I carry myself but Blue Phoenix is so special to me and the name has such a deeper meaning especially for women who’s dealt with ppd or depression of any sort.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First things FIRST. No one is going anywhere until we go to the original J.R. Crickets downtown Atl. That has been one of my favorite spots since I was like 10. Because I’m getting out of the new mom stage and quarantine lasted so long I’ve honestly just started getting back out like a few months ago so things are so different now. We would probably go to 6 FT under off of moreland avenue, Top Golf, the beltline, Juicy Crab, King Crabz, Boogalou, Atlantic Station and my Dad’s house! Lol If you know you know.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I can honestly that I have a lot of love and support in my circle from my family to my friends and relationship. There’s nothing that I haven’t been 100% backed on by my partner & my best friends are golden. Tons of books have contributed but I specifically remember a time when I was going through postpartum depression very heavily daily and I wanted to give up. I kept praying on what I needed to hear, see, read or what I needed to say myself to others for motivational purposes so I decided I would begin writing a women empowerment book. To my surprise God was already putting another book together for my reading using most words and beliefs I grew to strongly believe during that time and it’s called “Woman Evolve” by Sarah Jakes Roberts. Now, where the goosebumps come in is that my middle name is Sarah, it’s almost the only name I will answer to. This book gave me every push I needed and reversed any doubt I’ve ever had in myself. It felt like someone had truly experienced the things I have and understood exactly where I was coming from and understood exactly what I needed to read. I know it’s crazy, but I feel like God allowed her to pen those words just for me..along with any other woman in need, ya know!?
