We had the good fortune of connecting with Becca Stanley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Becca, what principle do you value most?
It’s hard to pick just one value or principle that matters most. But if I had to choose, I suppose I would land on humility. I think that as a leader, and particularly in today’s climate, it’s so important to start from a place of humility. To listen more than you talk, admit when you’re wrong, and be willing to risk making mistakes.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My husband and I started Blueprint 58, a nonprofit mentoring program in our neighborhood, almost ten years ago. Doing cross-cultural work primarily relationship-based, means that sometimes things can get messy. There are a million lessons we have learned, missteps we have taken, and challenges we have faced, and yet we would not change one bit of the story because failure continues to be our best teacher and most of our transformation happens when we find ourselves humbled and reminded of how much we have to learn. Blueprint 58 has focused on listening and learning, and slow and steady growth. Focusing on going deep in a neighborhood, rather than going wide in our programming and growth, has allowed us to tailor our programs to the specific needs of our community.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Having lived in Adair Park for nearly ten years now, it’s exciting to me that we can now walk to lots of different places to eat and drink. The belt line on the Westside is such a fun place to explore and having it close to home means it’s the #1 place we always take our guests!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been mentored and cared for by so many strong and generous women, which is why I am so passionate about mentoring myself. Without every one of them, I would not be who and where I am today.
