Meet Barbara Dixon

We had the good fortune of connecting with Barbara Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Barbara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve never considered starting my own business because I raised to have a career working for someone else in order to provide for my family. However after creating obituaries for many years for close friends and family I realized that many wouldn’t have recent, professional of their loved ones and/or photos with them. I began to take photos at every friend, church and family gathering to capture those moments with those people. I still didn’t think that a photography business was realistic business for me to start at the age of 40 along with being self taught. It was during the pandemic when people began to reach out to me to take photos at private events when I realized that I had a gift for capturing moments while my clients get the chance to enjoy creating them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love to help my clients express themselves in their photos! To actually Live out those fantasy shoots by creating custom sets so they can feel as if they’re really there. I love the way I can freeze the smiles, hugs & dance moves in time for my clients at their private events.
What sets me apart from others is the reason I love to capture moments. Being surrounded by so much loss of loved ones and people in my community I truly value the time that you can get back from and photos and videos. So I make it my goal for the photos and videos to tell a story.
I’m most proud about truly building with my clients so by the time their project is over they know that they’ve gained a family member!
How I got to where I am today professionally was nothing but God!! I am completely self taught, a YouTube University continuous student with the passion for being a part of dope moments with dope people. Of course throw some praying, discipline, determination, tough skin, positive mindset and heartset for what I do that has got me here professionally! I’m forever grateful for my journey.
It’s far from easy to run a business and raise a family. I’ve overcome challenges by having a village that keeps reminding me that when you have a gift you’re supposed to share it!
The lessons I’ve learned is you’re never too experienced to learn something new!
Id like people to know that my brand truly appreciate our clients trusting us with such special moments that we make sure they have an overall great experience along with great service!
