We had the good fortune of connecting with Austin Bolen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Austin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Music has been my passion since I was a young teen, so starting a business venture with perfoming and music at the center only made since to me. I wanted to share my talent and passion with everyone I could to brighten their world through unforgettable musical performances.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being a performing artist who often covers other artists’ music I believe you have to either play your interpretation of the song or try to play a note for note copy of the music. I always like to leave space for taking solos, improvisation, and maybe creating a cool mashup of songs that you had no idea could be sewn together.
I started the music journey with an original rock band formed around 2000 while in high school. We toured for years and released two full length albums. I think playing for so many people and various crowd sizes made any type of stage fright disappear long ago.
I’m still building my business to this day and I am not sure if its something that you ever stop doing whether your trying to rebrand or reach a new base.
I want the world to know what I offer is like nothing you’ve ever seen or heard before. I write music that can lull you to sleep with acoustics and cello or something super heavy what will have you banging your head like your at Ozzy Osbourne’s last heavy metal concert.
OR – I might just be in the background playing mellow and classy music for your cocktail hour. LOL . It’s really up to YOU.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are a few spots that I think are quintessential to the ATL experience. I would definitely try to make either a ATL United soccer game or Braves game given the season or time of year. Piedmont park and park tavern are a go to for a chill afternoon, right down the street is the famous Fat Matt’s ribshack that has legendary bbq and ribs paired with awesome live blues bands on any given Friday or Saturday night. Weekday spot on a Wednesday would definitely include a trip to the Local for karaoke, the BEST wings (combination smoked and fried) with an optional stop ( IF you are brave enought ) at the notorious Clermont lounge across the street. Arabia mouintain is also close by and offers a great hike with breathtaking views of the ATL sky line combining both a town and semi rural adventure. East Atl offers a fun and casual nightlife if you want a break from the often bougie Buckhead vibe also.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There have been many people who helped and inspired me along the way, starting out with my middle school orchestra teacher Mrs. King. She helped me find the instrument that was the best vessel for my passion; being the Cello. My family has also been a large source of support. My grandmother and aunt were both musicians and teachers but none of my siblings followed in that path so I felt like I was the one who was chosen to be that person in the family. It’s a career that I take much pride in and know it takes a lot of hard work to be a “successful musician” in any given timeline or social climate. Also a professional in the event industry Brandy Yungel has also helped connect me with with clients and give advice for decision making recently.
