Meet Aubrey Olden | Multi-Media Maven

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aubrey Olden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aubrey, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is the determination to dominate and change the industries that I am currently in. The drive to make those who came before me proud is also a huge underlying factor in why I strive to do the things that I do. Showing that women and people of color can strive in white male-dominated industries is very motivating and keeps me going.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, AUthentiK Rose, formally AubreyKDesigns started out as a side gig doing simple graphic design and has now blossomed into a multi-media one stop shop. Throughout the years I have found out just how much I can do without realizing it. In the very beginning, it started out doing things for my highschool football team here and there, and then assisting the graphic design teacher and taking on projects that he didn’t fulfill for students. Ultimately, upon the relauch of AUthentiK Rose, we will be providing all sorts of media needs, from social media management , to brand development to simple event flyers and mixtape covers, AUthentiK Rose does it all. With a future in the film industry, there are a few shows in the works some are actually already in production. With the film aspect, we’re striving to bring authentic stories to the general public. I set myself apart from others because I strive to treat all my customers like family, most of my clientele are around 16-28 and the younger ones don’t truly understand what all they need and the older ones know what they need but don’t have the time, and this can be stressful and when there’s someone there to help guide you through that process and take the stress off. I got where I am today by pushing through, there are dry seasons where I am not selling services as much because I didn’t have the knowledge to find other means for people to support. Through trial and error, I’ve taught myself so many things about the media industry and how to carry myself and most importantly market myself to make things happen. There has been times when business was very low and discouraging, but nonetheless, I had to remember why I started doing graphic design and why I am in the media business in the first place. One very important lesson I learned lead to the rebrand of AubreyK Designs to AUthentiK Rose, I realized that when you don’t put your heart into the clients can tell and that isn’t good for business, allowing yourself to be transparent and authentic in what you do and reminding yourself why you do it is very important, even if you’re the only one who understands . Pretty soon, everything that I’ve been working so hard for will happen. Women and people of color will be seen for who they are, untold stories will be told and I will not let up until the recognition we deserve is given, ultimately until we get our roses.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For starters, we’d have to visit the Atlanta University Center or the AUC, I am a student at Clark Atlanta University, so I love to show off the rich culture and history of my divine university and those surrounding it. Next, we’d have to go to a brunch spot either Rosie’s Cafe or Milk and Honey depending on what mood we’re in. I don’t get out much and I might be slightly biased but Slutty Vegan’s new Edgewood location is the place to be late nights, they have the vibes, the decor, and the great food to match. If you’re lucky you can catch the owner Pinky Cole and snap a picture with such a phenomenal woman.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To my mother, my rock, you’ve been supporting me since day one. I love you and how much you’re willing to support and do without me having to ask. To my friends, I love y’all so much, you all support me when literally no one else does To Tyoderick, thank you for believing in me and supporting me. It means the world to me, love you till infinity.
