Meet Assata Amani | Artist & Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Assata Amani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Assata, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Giving up is never really an option when you are destined to create, which we all are. At times, things may seem to be a bit bleak but it’s imperative that we accept that those feelings are inevitable. They are some what needed in order to change and shift within our own journeys.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an all around artist. I make music as well as do photography. What sets me a part from others is the fact that I get better with time. I hone in on my artistic crafts daily and I’m most proud of that. I got to where I am today by continuing to grow through life’s many changes and never giving up. I dot think that by secluding myself besides my family, has helped me understand what it is that I want out of this life. It’s not easy as I do experience “FOMO” some days but I know what I’m doing is for the better good for my family and my fans. I have learned that passion and consistency outlasts motivation. I want the world to know that my story is that of an artist conquering a mental health disorder. That if I can keep going- anyone can. That it’s okay to be different and have differing ideologies.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area I would love to take them to “The Battery ATL” or even to a film store to get film developed. There’s something special about Atlanta. There’s a place for everyone and that’s why I love it.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shout out to Bruce Grey! He is an amazing mentor and instills love and hope when I need it. He is an investor and producer.
