We had the good fortune of connecting with Asia Diamond and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Asia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
For me, consistency has been the key to success. In my experience working in the entertainment industry for over 10 years, consistency is the key to getting results. The results will not appear overnight. I know for me it didn’t- however some are lucky enough to experience the over night success. I’m not in the lucky group, and I’m fine with that. As a result of being consistent, I’ve been able to accomplish things that wouldn’t have been possible if I let discouragement or doubt discourage me. Had I did any of those I would not be able to have accomplished the things that I have. Consistency is key.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career path began when I chose dance as my career, wanting to be in the entertainment industry was my passion. It didn’t matter if it was behind the scenes or on camera. It was a no-brainer for me to be in the entertainment business. Let’s take a walk down memory lane. I am a native New Yorker now living in the equally culturally rich Atlanta area. I have been dancing for over twenty years. My dance training took place at some of the most prestigious dance training facilities in the country. Among them are Alvin Ailey, Dance Theater of Harlem, Joffrey Ballet, Harlem School of the Arts and the Harlem Hospital Dance Leadership Program. It has been my pleasure to work with many notable choreographers, including Michelle Johnston, Kenneth “Mantis” Tipton, Steph Stewart, Robin Dunn, Pony Zion, Drea Kelly, and others. As a dancer, I appeared in Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and Warner Bros A Cinderella Story Once Upon A Song. Starred in TV One’s Fatal Attraction episode Deadly Ultimatum, and co-starred in Shady Sisters: The Color Of Love, starring Angie Stone, Rodney Perry, and Nikki Lashae. Among my most recent roles was Charlotte in Chad Lawson Cooper’s Justice On Trial and Mann Robinson Studios ON TEN TV Series as DEA Agent Black. All the dedication, work, consistency, and late nights have been worth it because I love what I do. It’s a great opportunity for me to work on camera as well as behind the scenes. Working for one of Atlanta’s top black film directors, Mann Robinson, as his Executive Assistant, Production Coordinator, and Casting Assistant has been a dream come true for me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am excited to take you to my second home – Mann Robinson Studios – after we hit up my favorite spot in Atlantic Station, The Yard House. We’re going to Buffington Highway to get New York Chinese food, hitting Smoothie King (don’t worry, I got a $2 reward), and Wing Depot in Red Oak. I won’t venture to any club or lounge unless we there to network.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A shoutout to these people: my mom – without her, I would not be who I am today. In everything I do, she supports me and pushes me. A year after quitting my job to pursue my dreams, she still supports me and I’m still pursuing my dreams full time. I appreciate you, mom! You are my rock! Second, I would like to give a shout out to Mann Robinson. A dream of mine came true because of you. It has always been a dream of mine to work full time in the entertainment business, and I am beyond grateful to get the chance to do it with you. You already know! Thank you as always for trusting me to be your Executive Assistant. A shout-out to the Mann Robinson Studios team. A shout out to the DREAM Team – Ladies, it’s Vegas time! Finally, I would like to say thank you to my little angel Amaya aka Bumblebee. Thank you for always giving me my props and letting me know how it really is lol. Mommy loves you so much! This is our season, boo!
