Meet Ashley-Nicole Williams

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley-Nicole Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley-Nicole, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business was a mix of passion, purpose, and a desire for independence. I’ve always loved culinary arts and the ability to bring people together through food. I wanted to create something that not only showcased my skills but also represented my unique approach to cooking. With Nicole’s Kitchen, I aimed to deliver high-quality, delicious meals while also building a brand that people could trust and love. I saw entrepreneurship as an opportunity to turn my passion into a lasting legacy while making an impact in my community.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I started Nicole’s Kitchen in 2019, I was working at Enterprise, unsure of my path but certain of my love for cooking. Food has always been my passion—it’s an art, a way to bring people together, and a form of storytelling. Starting my catering business was challenging. I faced obstacles, self-doubt, and moments where I questioned if I could make it. But I realized that if I didn’t push forward and strive for greatness, I’d never reach my full potential.
I invested in myself, stayed motivated, and kept my faith strong. Now, along with running Nicole’s Kitchen, I teach culinary arts at Booker T. Washington High School, where I inspire my students just as much as they inspire me. Cooking is more than following recipes—it’s creativity, culture, and love on a plate. My journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s proof that with faith, perseverance, and passion, anything is possible. Nicole’s Kitchen is built on resilience, artistry, and a deep love for food, and I hope my story encourages others to chase their dreams fearlessly.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend visited Atlanta for a week, we’d hit all the best spots for food, shopping, and fun. We’d start with brunch at Atlanta Breakfast Club, then explore Ponce City Market and the BeltLine, stopping for drinks at 9 Mile Station. Food halls like Chattahoochee Food Works would be a must for trying different bites. For shopping, we’d hit Phipps Plaza and Lenox Square, then check out some of the city’s best restaurants, like Rock Steady for Caribbean flavors or The Optimist for amazing seafood. We’d also explore local culture at the Trap Music Museum and catch a vibe at Bar Vegan or Red Phone Booth for cocktails. Whether it’s great eats, nightlife, or just enjoying the city’s energy, Atlanta never disappoints!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my grandfather. He has always inspired me to be the best person I can be in everything I do. His unwavering faith, wisdom, and constant prayers have been a guiding force in my life. Every single day, he prays for my success and encourages me to strive for the best. He’s a God-fearing man whose love and support have shaped me into who I am today, and I wouldn’t be where I am without him.
