We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Faith Council and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley Faith, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks to me can be one of the most rewarding things in life honestly. When I write down and plan how to reach my goals I tend to learn more about myself. What I mean by that is I acknowledge my strengths and also areas that I can improve in. Taking risk to me makes me feel nervous but in the end I always feel like I’ve accomplished something. You have to be willing to take risk in life in order to reach your goals and full potential In whatever it is that you do. It’s sorta kinda similar to the street saying “scared money doesn’t make money”.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I became a licensed master cosmetologist in late 2016. What inspired me to become a licensed professional was my passion for always looking your best and making people feel their best. That feeling you get when your hair is “bomb” or “slayed” is undeniably one of the best feelings you can have. A great hairstyle can make a bad day a great day. I been dealing with mental health issues since a teenager and I use my outer  appearance with my hair, makeup, & the way I dress to express myself. You can tell a lot about a person by the way their outer appearance is presented.

I offer affordable services for braids, dreadlock or Loc services, faux locs services, weaving, & natural hair care. I’m currently working on my own product line for locs. I help small entrepreneurs build websites, promotion strategies, business flyer designs, job listings, & much more.
What I plan on to bringing to the community in the near future??
Eventually in the coming months of 2023, I do plan on starting support groups for mental health issues with the youth and young mothers of our community. I know at times ALOT of us tend to feel very overwhelmed and alone. I want to create a safe space for them to all open up about struggles, emotional triggers, better parenting, elf love, & helping one another thrive. I want to educate them on ways of creating a better future for themselves and children. Even tho my profession is labeled as a master cosmetologist, I am also a serial entrepreneur. I want to be to show the women of our community that they don’t have to limit themselves or out their dreams on hold for anyone or anything. I really do believe that the more you pour into your community, talents, & passions that you’ll always be able to succeed in whatever it is you decide to do in life.
